The crew were warmly welcomed as they rode into Kukerin with fire trucks, Harley Davidsons and a penny farthing to lead the way. A long ride of 120km from Narrogin to Kukerin and the group were happy to rest their legs and settle into their home for the next two nights at Nenke Park Pavilion.
As the Kukerin Hotel started to fill, ex-Kukerin local Maureen was feeling right at home and was soon on the bar to address the crowd, “For the young ones, it may come as a surprise that this isn’t my first time up here”. Maureen then went on to introduce the team and further thank everyone for all their ongoing support.
Also presented to the ‘Ride for Logan’ team were donations from the Kukerin Primary School, CRC MAYyouDARE challenge, and the Kukerin Hotel, with $5 from every meal donated. To date, ‘Ride for Logan’ has raised over $62,000 for HeartkidsWA.
On Tuesday July 12, the riders and support crew enjoyed a rest day taking the time to save their legs for the next leg but also take in the Kukerin tourist sites of Emu Essence and Cambinata Yabbies. The team will now travel to Albany via Katanning and Mount Barker and finish the long journey with a quiz night at Great Southern Grammar, where Logan attended high school.
