The night started with a bang! (‘She bangs’ - a song by Ricky Martin) as we cheered on special guest and MC for the evening Carmen Miranda Electra Meandes Left-eye Lopez aka Pip Gooding. Miss Lopez welcomed the crowd with a traditional Cuban dance before she was joined by local Peter Joyce to complete the performance with a spectacular lift (similar to that of Baby and Johnny in the film Dirty Dancing) – a fun and amazing start to the evening!
Miss Lopez held the crowd’s attention sharing facts about the Cuban culture, farming in Cuba and a few special gifts from her motherland. A Combined Sports Winter Windup isn’t the same without a ‘Street Talk’ segment and step aside Sam Newman, the Cuban version of ‘Street Talk’ has a highlight, seeing local Amy Hall up and dancing the ‘Baby Shark Flash Dance’.
In-between the laughter, visits to the bar de bebidas (drinks bar) and fiesta fun, everyone dined on a delicious assortment of canapes, main dishes and desserts from Tasty Treats Catering – thank you Michelle Harris and her team for the amazing spread.
Following the vote count, the spotlight was also shared with the Presidents from each sporting club, sharing their President’s report and announcing their 2018 award winners. Congratulations to all awards winners and sporting clubs on another great season. See below the 2018 award winners,

Dumbleyung and Wagin police briefly attended with Miss Lopez worried about her visa, she quickly ended the formalities of the evening to return to Cuba (before the Police noticed). Though the Cuban Goddess and amazing MC had to leave, the party was only just getting started. DJ Shaz had everyone up and dancing long into the night – thank you DJ Shaz!
A big thanks to the winter windup committee for organising the evening and to Carmen Miranda Electra Meandes Left-eye Lopez for travelling from Cuba to be our MC.
