June this year, after a home game at Stubbs Park, Dumbleyung Craig was awarded a ‘bone’ by the Cougars President, Nathan Ditchburn after playing his 600th football game against the Katanning Wanderers. Showing he still has what it takes, the season continued on a high for Craig, when we was awarded the 2019 Reserves Fairest and Best for the Upper Great Southern Football League.
Early in his career Craig played for Kulin Kondinin, with 45 league games and 12 reserve games. Kukerin Dumbleyung Football Club (KDFC) has since been his major passion with 373 league games and 70 reserve games. Craig’s commitment to the club was recognised in 2016 when we was awarded Life Membership to the Kukerin Dumbleyung Football Club.
Craig has also put on the jumper for the Upper Great Southern Football League and Eastern Districts Football League Association where he played/represented each association in 55 games and 2 games respectively. Donning the red and white, Craig has also graced the field on behalf of the South Fremantle Bulldogs and played two WAFL games.
You’d think one person couldn’t play anymore football but the talented Craig has also gone onto represent Western Australia on 47 occasions!
An asset to the Cougars, Craig’s credits continue including being awarded the Leo Graham Medallist (best player in the UGSFL League competition) in both 2001 and 2003. Life Member medallist (best player in UGSFL Reserves competition) 2019; League Best and Fairest for KDFC in 1997, 1998 and 2003; Reserves B&F for KDFC in 2008 and 2009 and League coach for KDFC 2003, 2004 and 2005 are all also form part of his resume.
Craig was President of KDFC in 2013, 2014, 2015 and Upper Great Southern Football League President in 2017 and 2018 and currently holds the Vice President role of the Association.
Craig has played in 14 A-Grade Grand finals as well as two B-Grade Grand finals.
A Grade premierships include 1993, 1996, 1998, 2001, 2005 and 2006; with a B Grade premiership in 2017. Being a part of the winning seven Landmark Carnivals with Upper Great Southern Football League is also a part of Craig’s achievements.
