Supporters from across the Shire filled the Katanning Recreation Centre on Saturday to watch the Dumbleyung Ducks take on Katanning team, Olympians. The ‘underdogs’, the ducks came out flying and were able to hold on to the lead from the beginning until the Olympians found a last boost of energy in the fourth and final quarter resulting with a draw at full time.
After an hour of playing a great game of netball, the decider came during overtime. Teams played seven minute halves each way to determine the winner of the B Grade Katanning Netball Association Grand Final – it wasn’t the ducks this year, but was THE game of the year resulting in Olympians who won by 3points. The Cougars were only five points up at quarter time though but came out firing in the second quarter and were ahead by 25 points. With a great defence, Wagin weren’t putting too many numbers on the board and the Cougars came out on top to win the Grand Final by 38 points. (For a full review please see sports update).
