Time flies when you’re having fun! Two years ago, local Scott Jefferis and his partner Hanna Chiswell took the leap and purchased Dumbleyung Ag Supplies and what a rewarding roller coaster it’s been. We asked Scott and Hanna for their tips, tricks and thoughts as new business owners.

Q
. What do you wish you knew then that you know now?
A. Where to start with this question?? Probably Everything!

Q. What advice would you give someone looking to start a new business/franchise?
A. You can do it! Be prepared for some pretty long hours. Make sure you're happy with your financial advisers, use brokers to get the best possible deals you can (where there's a will there is a way!) We're told it takes a good 3 years for your feet to touch the ground so be patient and chip away, it will fall into place with a bit of hard work, listen to your clients and lastly HAVE FUN!

Q. Tips for finding work/life balance?
 A. We’re still trying to work this one out, though maybe start with having a really good diary/weekly planner.  Accept help when people offer, leave work at work (much easier said than done but this is very important) and take a break! Always make a bit of time for yourselves... the work will always be there and you'll achieve much more when you're refreshed.

Q. Highlight/s of the past two years?
A. Highlights would definitely have to be the fact that we are running our own business (this still scares/amazes us), the amount we've learnt and the amount of support we've been shown has been very overwhelming too! AND of course the arrival of our new little co-worker, Emmy.

Q. Any future plans for Dumbleyung Ag Supplies?
A. Yes we have lots of future plans.  The longer we've been here the more we see ways to improve our business and are excited to be able to start implementing these ideas when we can.

Thanks Scotty and Hanna for answering our questions and sharing your tips and tricks and congratulations again of two years in the business!
