
The Bioblitz will begin at noon 8 October and conclude at noon on the 9th of October 2016
- This program is still in draft format until the final list of skilled Leaders is known.
- The activities that will be available to participate in will depend on the expertise of the group Leaders attending.
- Generally people will be split up into small groups of 10 who will be led by various team Leader’s to survey different parts of the Reserves.
- There will be the chance to swap around during the sessions to experience various aspects of the environment.
- Groups swap to look at different areas than they went to on Saturday for variety, possibly small mammal pit trapping and Elliott trapping.
Saturday afternoon activities could include:
- Looking for fauna (reptiles, birds and mammals)
- Flora identification and surveys
- Insects identification and looking at soils
- Looking at insects and water samples through digital microscopes
- Photography excursions
Evening activities include a FREE fully catered BBQ tea and could include:
Until available experts are approached, the evening talk will not have a structured format, however the following are likely to be on the program;
- Spotlighting
- A slide show and talk by one of the skilled Leaders
- Possibly viewing the night sky through a telescope, depends on sourcing a skilled Leader
- Astro photography - depends on sourcing a skilled Leader.
Sunday morning activities include a FREE cooked breakfast and could include:
- Looking for fauna (reptiles, birds and mammals)
- Flora identification and surveys
- Insects identification and looking at soils
- Also looking at insects and water samples through digital microscopes
- Photography excursions
