Making the most of the long weekend, the club held a reunion for the 1996, 2006 and 2007 premiership teams. Current and past players, captains, coaches and supporters filled the pavilion to enjoy a delicious dinner catered by the football club and to hear stories from past and current players including Troy Leo (pictured left) coach of the 2006 premiership team, Bevan Doney, captain of the 1996 premiership team, Nathan Ditchburn, coach of the B grade 2007 premiership team and Graham Taylor, president of the Kukerin Dumbleyung Football Club at the time.
A story that stood out for many was during the 1996 grand final when a young Graeme Bolt (Bolty) took out one of the leading players of the opposition, Michael Kain, breaking his nose and setting the scene for the duration of the game. Footage from the 1996 and 2006 premiership games were also shown at the event.
Many more memories were shared with some ripper tackles, goals and marks taken over the years and stories of footy trips where brought to the surface for all to join in on the joke. A great night was had by all with a few also making their way to the Kukerin Hotel the following evening to watch old footage.
If you couldn’t make it to the reunion, you can a share a laugh with the football club at the Kukerin Dumbleyung Football Club Comedy Night that will be held at the Dumbleyung Town Hall on Saturday July 1.
