The Land Conservation District Committee (LCDC) recently donated $100 to the Kukerin Primary School for the purpose of purchasing resource books for the students’ use. The Shire Landcare Manager, Claudia Hadlow presented the certificate (pictured left), on behalf of the LCDC. She told the School “That the Committee was very pleased to have the opportunity to make a donation to the School for the benefit of the students”.
Subsidised trees available through your local LCDC
Due to cutbacks in Federal and State funding, your local Landcare Committee has come to the rescue and will offer a 50% subsidy to maximum of 10 trays seedlings per order to Shire rate payers for 2019 planting. Trees are available for farm revegetation projects. Final tray numbers may differ depending on the number of farm orders received at closing date. First time landholders or those who have not received free seedlings in the past few years will be encouraged to take up this offer. The seedlings will be ordered from Parnell’s Nursery. For those that cannot pick up seedlings, the trees will be delivered to a central location in July 2019.
New sites in the Catchment covering different locations over several farms and areas susceptible to salinity and wind erosion will be considered high priority.
Sites will be inspected to confirm the species for planting and the preparation required for the site. Farmers will be responsible to fence the site to prevent stock grazing in the early years.
Payment from farmers covering half of the invoice must be paid to the LCDC prior to pick up of seedlings.
CLOSING DATE: Monday 26th November 2018
