A mother/daughter combination, Michelle Ball and Brooke Carew-Reid played together for the first time, taking out the major women's A Grade – well done!
Caroline, who had never played on grass, and Claire, one of our regular players from ‘Cow Town’, had a stellar run in the B Grade.
The men's B s Grade saw the last game as virtually being the grand final with the young guns just pipping the oldies. Chad and Angus needed to win against Jamie Dare and Kyle Angwin to secure the top spot.
Thank you to all for the wonderful team effort!
As usual, the meal was superb with Michelle and Jane organising a delicious meal. They excel each year, with some of the cricketers and random lake goers, joining in. Our wonderful Kitchen musician, Lynda made all our lives easier on the day, in looking after all kitchen requests.
To our Captain- Glenn, President- Jamie, and Secretary-Chloe; all did a magnificent job each day in keeping everything running smoothly. The draw was done to perfection as a result of many years of experience in running the event, which they do every now and then, under threat!
We have a few life members who provide assistance and suggestions when things need to be changed - for the better of course! Thank you also to Petronella, Jenny and Eric, for coming to the party and playing with with Fran and Bob Oats. Lunches were a hit and enjoyed by all, thank you to Ric and Vic Noble of the Dumbleyung Roadhouse – not only for the lunches but your continued sponsorship and support of our event.
Presentations concluded the event. A big thank you to all our sponsors: BUNGE, Dumbleyung Ag Supplies, Churchview Wines, Flexitrans and Dumbleyung Roadhouse.
Well done to regular Cow Town Girl, Marie Holben who won a one nights stay at Windsor Lodge. Marie, husband Tom and the crew are faithful Lawn Classic attendees – we’ll see you next year! Life Member Elizabeth Dare (another awesome kitchen helper) drew second prize – a patchwork quilt won by John, another visitor from Perth, who with friends stayed on for tea. Thank you to Amy & Michael for attending the presentation on behalf of Wishbone Transport- Ray & Julie Justins. Next year I am sure you will be on the court!

Day two saw beautiful weather, sometimes windy with a temperature boost as the day progressed. A great roll-up for the very popular mixed doubles event, with husband and wife teams by the score; girlfriends and boyfriends, mothers and sons, and two dad and daughter teams. There didn't appear to be any altercations although, a few wayward fast balls saw some ladies potentially sporting a few bruises on Monday.
A big thank you to our experienced ex Captain, Megan Henry (of course), handling the desk, scores and keeping play rolling smoothly and taking calm control of interference issues. All went like clockwork, and Megan was seen taking a few photos which are sure to be on her Facebook page.
Mixed A Grade winners: Results saw last year's winners going back to back to snare A grade once again- Chad Davidson & Michelle Ball with 6 wins.
Mixed A Grade Runner’s up: Father and daughter team Brad & Cherry Rundle- 4wins. With three daughters to consider, Brad was in a quandary as to who he should play with but clearly made the correct decision.
Mixed B Grade winners: Young guns Lachie Ward & Brooke Carew-Reid - 5wins/34games
Mixed B Grade Runner’s Up: Pipped at the post, Kim & Michelle Gooding - 5wins/32games
Mixed C Grade winners: Another tight finish for other young guns Harry Edwards & Tiffany Gossage winning 3set/26games
Mixed C Grade Runner’s Up: Chris A"lmedia and Claire Lacy of Cow Town - 3sets/23games
Mixed D Grade Winners: Mother and son team Cassy & new Dad Bevan Edwards (finishing in fine form, having to win their last match to secure top spot- a great display of tennis)
Mixed D Grade Runner’s Up: Jack Carruthers and Monique Smith securing this on a countback 2sets/23games.
Seedings on both days were spot on with every one enjoying their tennis and promising to return next year. Thank you to John Lee for all the great photos which have been put onto the Dumbleyung Tennis Club site. A good crowd helped with clean up - big thank you to all for a very successful and entertaining two day event (with only 1 hiccup).
