The CATS car can be used for medical and compassionate reasons and clients may travel to Perth, Bunbury, Albany, Katanning, Wagin or Narrogin.
Currently clients using the community car for medical appointments (to Perth, Bunbury or Albany), and for whom the Patient Assisted Transport Scheme (PATS) applies, pay an additional $50 to the Shire of Dumbleyung for assistance in the running and maintenance of the service. Thanks to the Dumbleyung Volunteer Fire Brigade’s generous support this $50 fee will now be waived on these trips.
Clients who wish to use the CATS service for medical or compassionate reasons to Wagin, Katanning or Narrogin pay a flat rate of $30, with compassionate trips to Perth costing a flat rate of $50. In both of these instances, the subsidy from the Dumbleyung Volunteer Fire Brigade is not available.
Since its inception in December 2018 the CATS car has made 12 trips - one to Albany, one to Narrogin and ten to Perth.
The CATS car is a community initiative made possible by Bain Estate and is proving to be a wonderful asset for assisting those in need in our community, a final huge THANKYOU to the Dumbleyung Volunteer Fire Brigade for their generous donation, which ensures this vital service continues to help those within our community.
