Many travelled from all parts of the state and even sons were dragged along to meet their Dad’s team mates and friends –although some, at just 12 years of age, would have preferred to be rabbit hunting) All enjoyed a great casual afternoon and evening reminiscing over who kicked the winning goal and best mark of the day.
Of the 28 pictured in the 1957 team, 6 were in attendance, and of the 1977 team, there were 16 players who attended from the 24 involved in this team picture.
The noise of voices continued from 4:00pm to almost midnight when the club had to shut. A number of women headed off to the Dumbleyung Theatre Club Play for alternative entertained.
Well done to Howie Ward and Gus Cook for taking time to contact as many as they could and to those who that attended. It was wonderful to catch up and dream of the old days - Dumbleyung Footy, not just 1957 or 1977, but all through the years.
Thanks also to Julie Biston and the Club for helping make a most enjoyable evening.
Another get together planned for the 50th anniversary of the 1977 Team???
