Exhibitors travelled from far and wide, displaying a variety of amazing products including hand poured soy candles Roma and Kay, Little Seed Handmade Jewellery, Wuddi Cultural Tours, Sugar Shack and Dymocks Busselton - just to name a few!
At 3.30pm the hall filled and many enjoyed the latest trends of Sand and Salt Lake Grace and Feet with Flair. Local Pip Gooding, lead the models onto the catwalk and even found time whilst MC’ing the fashion parade, to hold a mini parade, stripping back outfit by outfit to finish in a beautiful summer playsuit. The models not only paraded the latest fashions but also beautiful make up by Arbonne and hair styles by Hair Quarters Katanning. Well done to all involved!
From 4.30pm the attention shifted to the BBQ Master Cooking Competition were eight teams fought for the title of the ‘BBQ Master’. Teams had an hour and a half to create 50 delicious tastings for the public to enjoy and vote on. Teams were given a protein (steak, lamb, duck, chicken, kangaroo, fish, prawns and pork) and a pantry full of other ingredients to cook their dishes. The winning dish was made by Skye Beacall and Lyn Wilson who created a divine baa baa lamb burger.
Not only did Skye and Lyn win the title of ‘BBQ Masters’ but they also received $500 cash from Pascoes Accounting. They didn’t hold onto the cash for long, donating the prize money to Amy and Christine Bairstow who are currently raising funds for the Cancer Council in the lead up to a Mystery Box Car Rally later this year. Well done to all teams involved – we can’t wait to see this event grow even bigger and better next year!
In-between all the fun of the fashion parade and BBQ Master Cooking competition attendees were kept hydrated at the ‘Taste’ indoor/outdoor bar and enjoyed delicious food from the ‘Taste’ kitchen including the crowd favourite Yabbie Noodles. The fun didn’t end for the children either, with a FREE Slumber Party in the hall once the sideshow had closed.
The atmosphere was set all afternoon/evening long with music from Hayden McGlinn and Jonny Taylor. Jonny and band entertained the crowd late into the evening with many dusting off their dancing boots, grooving to classic golden oldies and original songs!
Well done to the Dumbleyung Events Committee on another successful annual ‘Taste of Dumbleyung’ event! Enjoyed by many (including a number of tourists who filled the caravan park and FREE RV camping at Stubbs Park) we all look forward to Taste of Dumbleyung 2019!
