Kukerin Primary School
  • A big thankyou to everyone for the organisation and planning behind a successful week of swimming lessons - in particular, Deb for her overall coordination, Tracy for being the swimming supervisor and to Trish and Mrs Faulkner for driving the students out and from Dumbleyung each day. A big thankyou to our parents for having your children so organised each day and a big thank you to all our students who, on the whole, participated enthusiastically and were great representatives for our school.
  • Kukerin Primary School is continuing on last year’s efforts to phase in a whole school Explicit Instruction Approach. Explicit Instruction Approach is a researched and evidence based with excellent results for student being the primary outcome. Explicit instruction aims to:
    • Improve students’ performance in literacy and numeracy
    • Improve students’ progression and attainment across all learning areas
    • Implement a structured, sequential and skills based curriculum
    • Ensure consistent instruction practices across the school
    • Increase student engagement and therefore lower opportunities for behavioural issues
  • Volunteers are required to assist at the swimming carnival on Friday 13 March. If you can assist throughout the day, please contact Deb Doney at the school by this Friday 28 February. It would be appreciated if all parents could assist with the packing up of equipment at the conclusion of the carnival.
  • We want to start a kids club for children who love drama and acting and all things creative for pre-primary to Year 6 students. Proposed day in Term 1 would be Mondays from 2:45pm to 3:30pm for four weeks only. If you are interested please contact Tara Green on 0427 333 171

  • March 4 Cricket Carnival Years 3 to 6
  • March 10 - Middle Room Assembly
  • March 13 - Swimming Carnival, PP to Year 6
  • March 19-20 - Year 6 Kulin Leadership Camp

A ‘Meet and Greet’ will be held tomorrow afternoon Thursday the 27th of February in the Junior Room at 1.30pm sharp. Mrs Stephens will address the parents who have children in years K-2, she will conclude at 1.45pm so the Senior Room parents can attend the session with Miss Hughes. The assembly will start at 2pm followed by afternoon tea in the Art Room.
  • Swimming lessons last week were a big success! Well done to the swim teachers who committed to Dumbleyung ensuring our students received this vital instruction, as some schools within the region are struggling to find adequate teacher numbers. Thank you Tracy for coordinating this for our area.
  • It is with disappointment that the very enjoyable Drumbeat in the Senior Room has been cancelled. Unfortunately, Palmerston Health accidentally made an error in allowing us to participate in their zone.
  • This weekend is a long-weekend with Monday being a Public Holiday. School will resume on Tuesday February 3rd, with the Senior Year 5/6 class leaving for Camp Kulin and with Year 5/6 students from Darken where ‘Leadership’ will be the intentional focus. This will be a first for our school and depending on the outcomes this may be the beginning of a new tradition here for us at Dumbleyung Primary School. If you should require any administrative assistance please see Tamara in the front office.
  • Dumbleyung P&C 2020 AGM will be held on Tuesday the 10th of March at 9am in the School Library - all welcome! Come along and have a cup of tea, throw your $1 into the cup and have your vote and membership recorded.
