Kukerin, Dumbleyung and Nyabing Primary Schools came together on Thursday March 8 to compete in the annual Swimming School Carnival. The perfect weather made for an awesome day of racing and students from all schools showed great sportsmanship. Congratulations to Dumbleyung who won the Norm and Dulcie Cronin Shield (429 points), to Kukerin who placed second (381 points) and Nyabing third (380 points). Kukerin students and parents won the ‘Golden Flipper’ relay for the fourth year in a row – well done! The event would not have been such a success without the assistance of parents and volunteers – thank you!

  • All teachers and education assistants have recently attended professional learning in Kulin. The professional learning was centred on improving student’s ability to write various forms of texts, by using an approach called ‘Talk for Writing’. Teachers have already started to implement some of the ideas, with confidence that there will be a progressive improvement from students through the year.
  • Blast Cup Cricket Carnival – Year 3 to 6 students recently participated in the T20 Blast Cup Carnival in Lake Grace. Two teams were formed and competed in modified cricket against Lake King, Newdegate, Dumbleyung, Lake Grace and Pingrup schools. We didn’t win many games but still had a lot of fun! Many students hit their first ever six and several older students hit multiple sixes! This event was a great culmination to our cricket lessons during sport this term.
  • Crazy Hair Day Thursday March 29 – students are encouraged to come to school with crazy, coloured or styled hair and wear casual clothes for a gold coin donation. Money raised will go to the Leukaemia Foundation.
