Dumbleyung Primary School

  • Congratulations to all involved last week on a wonderful Dumbleyung Speech, Drama & Art Festival, it was a brilliant day filled with many wonderful achievements made by all of the students who participated, and a true celebration of the Arts!
  • This year, four students – Jasmine Cronin, Flynn Bartram, Max Coad and Hannah Cronin – were chosen to participate in the Interschool Cross Country event on Friday, 31st May hosted by St Matthew’s Primary School. Thank you to parents who attended. Well done to all students on a fantastic effort. Special mention to Jasmine Cronin who was 2nd in the Year 4 Girls 2km.
  • Reminder to our parents with little ones at home that Pre-Kindy will commence on Fridays next term, more information will follow in the coming weeks.
  • Mrs Laura Bartram has an excursion planned for Wednesday 26th June to the Wagin Historical Village for HASS. Any parent assistance with transportation of your own children would be greatly appreciated.
  • A call out to parents with children in the Early Years or still at home, Chloe Justins is running a Speech Parent Workshop and information session at the CRC on Friday the 28th of June. She will share current research based methodologies and the close link between speech and literacy development. I would thoroughly recommend your attendance to the session if you are free.

  • Sergeant Alby Van Den berg, Officer in Charge Dumbleyung Police Station, visited the school on Tuesday the 4th of June to talk to the students about some ongoing community vandalism. This was linked with our school behaviour expectations of ‘I am Respectful’ and ‘I am Responsible’. It was pleasing to see the students take the matter seriously and offer thoughtful comments and questions in regards to the issue.
  • Last Friday the Senior Room students participated in the annual Lakes Speech, Drama and Art Festival held in Dumbleyung. The students had been working long and hard on preparing for this through practising their choral and individual poem recitals as well as putting together some outstanding ‘Mixed Media’ art pieces. It was a highly successful day and the students displayed great courage, composure and skill in their poetry performances. Congratulations to all students on their efforts and for those students who achieved a specific award.
  • Kael Astbury, Miells Astbury and Ashleigh Faulkner were recently selected to represent our school at the 2019 Interschool Cross Country event held in Narrogin. These students should be very proud of their achievements as they competed against some of the best athletes in their age group from across the region. The individual results for these students are as follows: Year 5 Girls - Ashleigh Faulkner 1st,  Year 5 Boys - Kael Astbury 17th, Year 6 Boys - Miells Astbury 19th
