‘TRY’ ATHLON HAS BEEN CANCELLED
With all the excitement of the Lake we have only had one entry for the community 'TRY'ATHLON so we have decided to Cancel the event. We hope you have a fantastic weekend and maybe we will 'TRY' again another time ;) 
 
KEYS TO SHIRE FACILITIES
The shire is currently updating the key register and would appreciate anyone who holds a shire facility key to contact Emily on 9863 4012 to confirm these are on record.
 
MISSING FOX TRAPS
Our shire fox traps are missing and we are seeking your help to locate them so we can continue to provide this facilities to our community. Inspection of equipment and a bond must be paid at the shire office prior to any equipment leaving the shire depot, so that we can record their whereabouts. If you have borrowed/hired any shire equipment and it has slipped your mind to return it, can you please return it to the shire office ASAP. We appreciate your assistance in locating these items.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION: This is a friendly reminder regarding the ski areas and speed limits at Lake Dumbleyung, to prevent accidents and fines. The Department of Transport is responsible for enforcing these rules and they have been in contact with the shire advising they will be visiting the lake. 
Please make yourself familiar with these areas - the green area is an 8 knot speed limit for all vessels, the yellow is for water ski, power boat and jet ski recreation. Please consider the speed limits and safety of those swimming and canoeing in the green area. **RECREATION & TOURISM AT LAKE DUMBLEYUNG**
Welcome to our region we hope you enjoy your stay. For more Lake Dumbleyung tourism information, please contact the Shire of Dumbleyung on (08) 9863 4012, for brochures and maps or visit 
www.visitdumbleyungshire.com. The shire wishes for everyone to have an enjoyable time at the lake without us having to harshly enforce rules so please be respectful of each other and we will all have a great time. For access and safety considerations, we hope the below information is helpful and ensures our visitors enjoy time spent in our region:

Lake Dumbleyung Road Access – Unsealed gravel road suitable for 2WD & 4WD vehicles. Not Suitable for caravans and long vehicles.

Ski Club - Boats and powered vessels are welcome at the Ski Club. More parking and turn-around space available at this location.

Yacht Club – Swimming, non-powered water vessels and picnics. If it is absolutely essential for powered vessels pass through this area, please obey speed limits. Please be aware there is limited parking and turn around space for long vehicles.

Access Roads & Water Hazards - Please comply with access roads/areas, drive to conditions and consider submerged hazards and evening breeze can cause choppy water.

Housekeeping - Lake Dumbleyung is a Nature Reserve so to preserve it’s natural beauty, please take your rubbish with you when you leave, refrain from taking animals into the reserve, bring your own drinking water and be aware that ablutions are a long drop toilet. 

Accommodation, Food, Attractions – The Shire of Dumbleyung tourism brochure and maps are available from the shire office and via 
www.visitdumbleyungshire.com. While visiting Lake Dumbleyung don't forget to check out the attractions in the towns of our region including the Bluebird Replica and Interpretive Centre in Dumbleyung.

Camping – There is no camping at Lake Dumbleyung. Free camping with a dump point is available at Stubbs Park, Dumbleyung. There is a wide range of accommodation in the Shire of Dumbleyung including: Dumbleyung Caravan Park (08) 9863 1012 or 0458 851 709 (caravans, tents & Bluebird Lodge), Grande Olde Dumbleyung Inn (08) 9863 4817 (Double, twin, single and downstairs rooms – Dog friendly), Taylor Street Bed & Breakfast (08) 9863 4388, Mary’s Farm Cottages 0437 341 679 (Self-contained apartments and studio rooms), Kukerin Hotel (08) 9864 6338 (Double, twin and single rooms), Kukerin Caravan Park (caravans & tents) (08) 9864 6338.
 
Fundraising Opportunity – Catering for Council Meetings

Community/Sporting Groups or Individuals are invited to put their names forward for catering for one or more of the 2017 Council Meetings.  (If we have a large number of responses then it may mean that some groups/individuals may only be able to cater once and dates are awarded on first in best dressed.)  Caterers are asked to provide a main course and dessert for a minimum of 10 people and are paid $32 per head for February through to November.  The December Christmas Dinner can be up to $40 per head depending on the menu and expressions of interest are sought for this closer to the date.  If you are looking for a little extra income then this is a simple and easy opportunity for local groups to raise funds.
We require caterers for the following meetings:

17 August
21 September
19 October
21 November
