From the CEO
There is a changing of the baton at the shire. At October’s Ordinary Meeting of Council we farewelled two experienced Councillors; Gordon Davidson, who retired after 26 years, and Carly Smith who retired after six years.
Gordon has been a Councillor for twenty-six years and the Shire President for the past sixteen years. Throughout his time, he has not only been heavily involved in Council and Council Committees but also a great representative of the shire at external organisations such as the South-West Catchment Council, 4WDL, Central Country Zone and Regional Road Group. He is not only respected within Council but also throughout the many shires that he has worked with. Personally, Gordon has provided much advice over our four years working together. Being able to lean on his experience has been invaluable for my development in my role. On behalf of staff, Council and myself, I wish him in the best with his future plans.
Carly has been a Councillor for the past six years. Following the retirement of some quite experienced Councillors in 2013, Carly took a step up in her role and has continued to develop and is a strong voice on Council, always willing to stand up for what she believes is right. During my time I have appreciated Carly’s support and her open and honest approach to Council. I never had to wonder where I stood! Unfortunately, due to personal reasons, Carly will be leaving Council sooner than I hoped but on behalf of staff, Council and myself, I wish her all the best in her future endeavours.
At a Special Meeting of Council on Monday 23rd October 2017 a new era commenced. Council voted in Cr Jacki Ball as Shire President and Cr Julie Ramm as Deputy Shire President. Two new Councillors were also welcomed, being Bevan Doney and Amy Knight. Congratulations to the President, Deputy President, new and returning Councillors. Despite the change, I believe that Council has been left in safe hands. https://www.facebook.com/dumbleyungshire/posts/854179114757962?comment_id=854695328039674¬if_id=1508905893662310¬if_t=feed_comment

Waste Sites Updates
Recently we have been working on improving our waste sites with an aim to manning the site in the New Year. Unfortunately, despite the time and expense that has gone into these upgrades, there have been several incidents of users dumping their rubbish in the wrong areas. This just causes more expense in trying to properly maintain the site.
In order to ensure that ratepayers funds used effectively, we have begun restricting hours to the waste site as of the 23rd October 2017. From this date, the waste site will only be open from Saturday to Monday.
When using the waste site, please follow the correct procedures. There are four areas for waste disposal, Waste Oil, Green Waste, Scrap Metal and General Waste.
If you have a mixed load and do not want to separate it, please dump in the ‘General Waste’ section (Excludes Waste Oils). Read more
