​DETOUR 129 Gate Rd Railway Crossing – 15 & 16 October 2019
ARC Infrastructure intend to upgrade 129 Gate Rd Railway crossing on the Tuesday 15 October and Wednesday 16 of October 2019. There will be a detour in place however it is not suitable for Road Trains. Road Trains please use Peterson Rd or the Highway as an alternative.
 
LAST CHANCE! Robert & Daphne McIntyre Citizenship Award
*Applications open 16th August 2019* The Robert and Daphne Citizenship Award is a $3000 donation towards education expenses open to any student from years 10 to 12 whose primary place of residence is in the Shire of Dumbleyung or the parents/guardians are ratepayers in the Shire of Dumbleyung.
Applications close on 27th September 2019. To be eligible, all applications MUST address the selection criteria. To obtain a copy of the Award application please contact Emily Edwards at the Shire of Dumbleyung on 9863 4012 oreedwards@dumbleyung.wa.gov.au.

Results of Election
Nominations for Council closed yesterday, Thursday 12 September 2019 at 4.00pm. At the close of nominations all candidates that had nominated for this election were uncontested and elected unopposed.
The results for the 2019 Council Elections:
Dumbleyung Ward - Amy Knight - 4 Year Term exp 2023
Dumbleyung Ward - Nick Green - 4 Year Term exp 2023
Kukerin Ward - Catherine Watkins - 4 Year Term exp 2023
South Ward - Julie Ramm - 4 Year Term exp 2023
At the close of nominations there were no nominations received for the 4 Year Term on the North Ward. An extraordinary election will be held at a later date to fill the remaining vacancy.

Annual Vacant Block Maintenance
Some residents get the shire to mow their vacant resident blocks before the 1st November. In fees and charges,there is a fee where the shire will keep your vacant residential block tidy for the entire year for $253, around the same it would cost for a one off tidy. If you would like to take up this offer, in time for this year’s fire season, please get in touch with the shire before 30th September.

RESTRICTED BURNING PERIOD
19th September to 31st October
1st February to 31st March
Restricted Burning Period – It is unlawful to set fire to the bush during this time except in accordance with a permit obtained. The Restricted Burning Period can be varied i.e. shortened, extended, suspended, reimposed by the Shire 14 days at a time if seasonal conditions require.
 PROHIBITED BURNING PERIOD
1st November to 31st January
Burning is also prohibited on Good Friday and Easter Sunday
Prohibited Burning Period – means that the time of the year during when it is declared by the Minister to be unlawful to set fire to the bush. Protective burning and burning to harvest clover can be carried out during this time only in accordance with a permit obtained.
REMINDER: BE FIRE SAFE ANNUALLY BY NOVEMBER 1 (Mowing and fire breaks)

Facility & equipment hire
When hiring facilities, plant and equipment from the Shire, please complete the paperwork and pay the bond and hire fee at the office. On returning equipment, please contact the office for an inspection and refund of the bond.
