Shire of Dumbleyung 2017 Community Survey | NOW OPEN
Can you spare a few moments to take our survey? It is for the Shire of Dumbleyung's Strategic Community Plan.
Your feedback is important in the future direction of our shire. We would like to hear from everyone, so we will not stop until we have at least 75% of completed surveys submitted to the shire. We are also offering the chance to win one of ten $50 local shopping vouchers as incentive to complete your survey, plus it supports our local businesses.
It is preferred for surveys to be completed online at https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/2WJ3TDW
We also be a hard copy mailed out for those unable to complete the survey online. It’s EASY, once you have received the survey, fill it in, staple where marked and post. The Survey comes with a pre-printed “replied paid stamp” so postage to you is FREE.
We look forward to receiving your feedback.

BAIN ESTATE FUTURE FUND
In May 2013 the Shire of Dumbleyung was the sole beneficiary to the Estate of Ian Bain. The will contained a wish that the money be used to assist sporting groups, emergency organisations and hospital services within the shire; however the wish does not impose an obligation to restrict spending to these three areas.
The intention of Council is for the Bain Estate Distribution to be used for the benefit of the shire over a thirty year period of time. The aim is to distribute the money to the community in similarly equal distributions over the thirty year period, taking into account the time value of money.
The amount available to be distributed each year will be determined through the annual budget process, taking into account past decisions and the current financial climate.
Applications to the Bain Estate Future Fund were called for from 1 July, with applications closing on 4 August.  These applications were then assessed against the guidelines and taken to the August Meeting of Council, which was laid on the table until the September Ordinary Meeting of Council.
The 2017/2018 Bain Estate funding round has now been completed and the following submissions have been approved for funding (see table below).

As a result of the meeting, Council felt some of the applications lacked appropriate planning and as a result applications seemed rushed.  Council would like applicants to seek external funding sources prior to submitting a Bain Estate application. For future funding rounds Council would like to see applicants approach Bain Estate Future Fund staff members prior to submitting applications to ensure adequate planning takes place (eg. Budget submission time).  Council will also give preference to applications that use local suppliers for quotes.  Council would like applicants to keep in mind that they will be assessing want vs need when approving applications and in future, applications may receive no funding if they feel that applicants are too excessive with their wants.
