LAST CHANCE - RESPONSES DUE TODAY (MAY 31)! Would you like your children to attend a middle school in Katanning run by an established well reputed private school? If so please take the time to take this survey as it could be very important for the future education of our children. Investigations are taking place to bring an established a non-government fee-paying middle school (Year 7-9) in Katanning. They need to determine if this is viable so your response is important.
Shire of Katanning invite you to complete a survey investigating the future demand for expansion of Middle School (Yr 7-9) educational choices in Katanning and surrounding regions.Complete Survey Now: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/FD8YVZP
Community Survey Update
It had been promised that following the closure of the community survey that the results would be put out in the newsletter. While this is still what is going to happen, the community survey is going to be re-opened in July in order to get as many people participating in the survey as possible. We will be pushing hard to hear from everyone so please, when the survey opens, please fill it out straight away rather than having us chase you down the street to fill out a copy.

WANDRRA Update
The road inspection has been completed and sent to Main Roads. Main Roads are currently checking the inspection report and will let us know if any damage is obviously not eligible.

Once we have got the tick off from Main Roads, a tender will be put out for the necessary repairs. This is not a quick process but being a local government we must tender for any purchases over $150,000.

To speed up the process for some of the more urgent damage, we have split off some work from the tender and are putting these out as separate work packages that are small enough to only need quotes. One contractor has already been appointed and we are currently undergoing the process to appoint another. It is expected that some of these works will commence in mid-June.

If you have been listening to the news you may have heard that we are now eligible to use our day labour. While this is an improvement to the WANDRRA system, and will be very helpful in the future, we really needed the decision made the day after the floods, like it was in Queensland, rather than three months later. To be able to use our labour, we would now need to redo all the estimated costs based on the shires rates and submit this to Main Roads, which would further delay the process.
