With the tourism and media attention regarding Lake Dumbleyung we are expecting increased visitor numbers and enquiries. Where possible, please refer enquiries to the shire office for the official and most up to date information, along with distribution of brochures and maps. To keep information consistent and for safety considerations, the below points are being communicated to our visitors:
Lake Road Access – Unsealed gravel road suitable for 2WD & 4WD vehicles. Not Suitable for caravans and long vehicles.
Ski Club - Boats and powered vessels are welcome at the ski club. More parking and turn around space available at this location
Yacht Club – swimming, non-powered water vessels and picnics. If it is absolutely essential for powered vessels pass through this area please obey speed limits. Please be aware there is limited parking and turn around space for long vehicles.
Access Roads & Under Water Hazards - Please comply with access roads/areas, drive to conditions and consider submerged hazards.
Housekeeping - This is a nature reserve, please take your rubbish with you when you leave, there is no drinking water and ablutions are a long drop toilet.
Accommodation, Food, Attractions – The Shire of Dumbleyung Tourism Brochure and Maps are available from the shire office and via www.visitdumbleyungshire.com.
Camping – There is no camping at Lake Dumbleyung. Free camping with a dump point is available at Stubbs Park, Dumbleyung. Road Condition Update:
Cleanup of our roads continues. The roads are still too wet to have heavy machinery on.
All gravel roads within the Shire of Dumbleyung remain closed to heavy (over 4.5t) vehicles until further notice.
*DUMBLEYUNG TO NYABING ROAD IS OPEN TO LIGHT VEHICLES ONLY. THERE IS BAD SHOULDER DAMAGE SO THE ROAD IS CLOSED TO HEAVY VEHICLES >4.5TONNES. PLEASE TAKE CARE PARTICULARLY IF YOU MUST GO ONTO THE SHOULDER*
*FENCE RD BETWEEN 129 GATE RD AND PETERSON RD - WATER IS OVER THE ROAD AND THE FLOODWAY HAS BEEN WASHED AWAY. PASSABLE ONLY IN A 4WD*
*TRELOARS RD IS IMPASSABLE EAST OF MOULYINNING NORTH ROAD AND WILL BE SO FOR SOME TIME*
*SPEED RESTRICTIONS APPLY TO THE DUMBLEYUNG-KATANNING ROAD*
If you are going to look at the river can you please take care and remember that it is still a road. Please park away from the bridge and as far off the road as you can. Please keep off the road when walking.
There is still flooding in the South-West Portion of the shire (Datatine Area) and we still advise not to travel on roads in this area.
Other roads in the shire are now passable (mostly 4WD access only) however there are still hazards on the roads. Below is a list of road conditions which we will update as the day progressing and we can ascertain more information:
*REPORTED ROAD CONDITIONS AND HAZARDS*
-Dumbleyung-Katanning Road - Water is now touching the bridge near the golf course. There is also a hazard due to cars parked near the bridge.
-114 Gate Road - The road is passable however culverts are exposed.
-Fence Road - Passable but there is water over the road and it has sustained quite a lot of damage which poses a hazard. Between 129 Gate Rd and Peterson Rd it is 4WD access only.
-Nippering Road - Passable but a there is a washout around a culvert where the road will only be passable as a single lane.
-Harrison Rd is passable
-Kings Rd is passable
-North Kukerin Rd is passable
-Candlelight Rd is passable. There is flooding north of the main road and it is one lane only access in some areas.
-Bray Rd is passable. There is major washouts between the 129 Gate Rd and 125 Gate Rd which restrict it to single lane access.
-Peterson Rd is now passable.
-125 Gate Rd is now passable. There is still some water in the floodway.
*The main road from Wagin to Lake Grace is open to all vehicles. It remains closed to all vehicles from Lake Grace to Lake King.

We also ask everyone to avoid the rubbish tips as they are very boggy and the rubbish truck has had to dump its contents some distance from the hole.

NIPPERING CEMETERY MARKER STONE INSTALLATION BUSY BEE - POSTPONED until 22nd February
CAN YOU HELP? As you may remember, Bob Bray has co-ordinated and with the support of our community, successfully fundraised and ordered grave markers for the Nippering Cemetery. He is now at the final stage of installing the marker stones and would like some help. Weather depending, he will hold a Busy Bee at the Nippering Cemetery Wednesday 22nd February at 4pm. If you are available to help, please phone the shire on 9863 4012 to RSVP.
If all helpers can please bring the below items for use on the day or if you are unable to attend but can lend Bob any of the below that would be appreciated:

- Slide or G Clamps to fix the plaque to the stone
- Spirit Level (Small)
