Dumbleyung Netball Club
Captain Katrina Gray won the toss, allowing us to take the first centre pass and the advantage to score first. Unfortunately this wasn’t to be as the Sapphires defence were twice the height of most of us and subsequently were able to use this to their advantage. Sapphires were able to intercept the most impossible of passes and turn into goals.
But our Ducks pursued! And with our Coach encouraging us from the sidelines with the aim of beating our highest score for the season we were determined to achieve that. We managed to equal our highest score, although Elspeth Smith did score a goal after the final whistle, which was unfortunately not included in the final score.
The final score was 16 – 41 in favour of Sapphires. The game score does not reflect the performance of the team. Every player is improving every week, passing stronger, chasing down lose balls and finding space across the court, which is brilliant to see.
Following the game the Katanning Netball Association held a quiz night at the Katanning Leisure Centres Pioneer Function Room. Showcasing we are more then just beauty on the court “Quiz in my Pants” was the name of our Club table. Our team was up there with the best through the nine rounds of questions and assorted questionnaires, although we did not come away with the $500 first prize. The night ended with an Auction of sporting memorabilia, enabling the Association to raise over $5,800. Well done to the Katanning Netball Association for organising such a fun-filled and very successful night!
Our next game is this Saturday 18 June at 2.30pm on Court 4 against Cardinals Fever. So feel free to come along and cheer our Ducks on! Also this Sunday 19 June is the Over 30’s Netball Carnival to be held in Katanning and for the first time in a few years Dumbleyung has entered a team. We look forward to many a laugh, maybe a win or two and the afternoon tea at the end of the day!

unner-up with a great 70nett was Bob Hannah and the Gross was by Paul Ward with a great 87 off the stick. The putting comp was won by the ever reliable Graeme Jose with 27 points on a countback from Bob. The Ladies captain did predict that Graeme would win this as Garry Bateup was not playing. Thank you to Dave Wall for lighting the fire, it certainly was appreciated by all.
Winner of the ladies was T Bartram, runner-up Liz Dare and Cheryl Snell won the gross. Cheryal's sister Gail kept the home fire burning while we all played golf. Novelties were won by Jamie, Bob, Paul, Ricky and Tamara. A lovely BBQ and salad was had by all and a big thank you to Darran and Carmen and boys who presented their trophies and stayed for tea. Both are considering taking up golf at some stage in their busy lives - look forward to the day.
Thursday is the Championship Foursomes at Dumbleyung so, please, if you can help in any way we would like to see you there. Play commences at 9.00 for the 27 hole champs. Thank you to everyone for all the work that has been done to get the course and clubhouse in tip top shape.
Next Saturday 18 June will be a Par event with names in by 12.00.

UGSHA NARROGIN JUNIOR HOCKEY CARNIVAL
An awesome event for young players to play in teams of either girls or boys.
You nominate your child, they will create the teams and then the teams will play throughout Saturday and Sunday. Each team has a Coach and Manager - highly recommended and lots of fun.
Also chasing some volunteers to help with canteen roster please.
Fortunately we do not have a roster but I would like it if we could get 6 of us to help fill in rosters please. I will be there for both days so please give me a call if you are available for a couple of hours either Saturday or Sunday and I can call Mareesa.
