Dumbleyung Men's Hockey Club

The Dumbleyung Men’s Hockey Club put their new purchase ('the limo') to use this week and travelled to Narrogin to play Pingelly on the turf. It was a close game and Dumbleyung fought til the end with a final score of 2-1 with goals by Courtney Bairstow and Michael Atkins.

The limo won't have to go too far this weekend, Saturday July 30, as the team plays at home (Stubbs Park) against Olympics at 3pm. All are encouraged to attend and cheer on the team.

Additional congratulations to all the local junior hockey players who exhibited their skills at the Narrogin Carnival recently.

Dumbleyung Netball Club

Our Dumbleyung Ducks played against Cardinals Force(1) at 4pm last Saturday July 23 at the Katanning Leisure Centre. The first game back from the school holiday break and our first game in division two was a slow start, though we came bouncing back in the third quarter adding a few more points against our name. Unfortunately, this wasn't enough and Cardinals Force(1) won the game with a final score of 64-9.

A huge thank you to Candice Ward and Jo Doney who came back to play and a big congratulations to Candice who scored her first ever netball  career goal - awesome work for a center player!

On another note, there's something in the water at the Netball Club as we congratulate Pip and Ross Gooding who are expecting baby number two!

This weekend we play AllStars 2 at 2.30pm.

Lakeview Golf Club

A small but determined crowd decided to brave the elements on Saturday for the 2nd last round of qualifying for the Championships sponsored by Wishbone Transport - Ray & Julie Justins. Bitterly cold to commence the days play then the rain decided to fall, making golf a bigger challenge than what it already was.  It was heard on the grapevine that the only reason George Bartram didn't play was because his sticks weren't weather proof.  Some of us of course cruised around in comfort and we all believe that straws should be drawn as to who plays with Bob Hannah and his cart - as Eric said, Bob asked ME!!!! It was wonderful to have Ray Justins present his trophies on the night, enjoying catching up with everyone and staying for the BBQ tea.

Now the winner of the Men's and the Monthly Mug and the Putting Comp-27 putts, was Bob's favourite at Odds on -  Eric Gossage with a great 85gross/71nett, runner-up Graeme Jose 87g/72nett and Gross  Paul Ward 91.  Ladies winner T Bartram with a 93/71nett, runner-up Sharlene Powell 114g/ 82nett and Gross winner was Davina Gossage.  Novelties were won by Davina, Graeme x2, Paul, Tamara and Eric.  Thank you to Bob Bray for mowing our special holes for the women so we can find our balls.  It is a fact of life that, most of the time we are just not powerful enough to hit cleared, mowed or slashed areas that most of the men can reach.

Next week is Wagin Stable Gear- Rhonda Carbone's day - playing a Stableford. Remember that the last qualifying round is on Saturday 20 August. If you are going to play in the Championships, please let Marc or Tamara know as the 1st Eliminations commence 27 and 28 August.
