Kukerin Bowling Club

Last weekends double header of pennant bowls proved successful for the club.   On Saturday we travelled to Karlgarin. The game was played in very hot conditions early on with a bit of cloud cover cooling things down later in the afternoon. The game commenced with one Kukerin rink jumping to an early lead and the other three rinks were locked into a tense battle, however the Karlgarin rink who were down early lifted to make it into an intense battle across the green.  The match progressed and one Kukerin rink took control while the other three rinks were too close to predict a winner. In the concluding stages of these three games, two Kukerin rinks gained control while the other one came down to a last end shootout which was won by Karlgarin by two shots which left the final result in a win to Kukerin 7—1.  The bus trip home proved quite a hilarious event early in proceedings. Modern technology being a problem for the driver.

Sunday saw Kukerin at home to Kulin in the final match of the home and away season. The game was played in warm conditions with a breeze running down and across the green which made for tricky conditions at times.  Kukerin gained control on two rinks early with the third rink in a close battle and the fourth down by a small margin. The match continued in this vein and in the later stages three Kukerin rinks were in control with the fourth close behind until the final end when they snatched five shots to win narrowly which gave Kukerin an 8—0 win.    The final ladder positions for the season are; Kukerin 69,  Kondinin 67, Newdegate 45, Kulin 32.5, Karlgarin 17, Lake Grace 9.5.

The semi-finals are to be played on week-end of 16th and 17th March for ladies and men’s pennant competitions. On Saturday 16th the first semi-final will be played at Lake Grace.  Kulin ladies versus Kondinin ladies, and in the men’s competition Kondinin will be against Newdegate.   Sunday 17th the second semi-final is to be played at Kulin. The ladies competition sees Newdegate versus Lake Grace and the men's event will see Kukerin against Kulin.

Good bowling and luck to the two Kukerin men's teams who will travel to Perth to play in the annual mens Country Week championships commencing this week on Friday 1st March.
