Dumbleyung Darts Club
We played our last game of the season on Wednesday night in the Wagin Club against Darkan Blue, the Kiwi shearers, and they clipped our wings. We had a loss of 10/1. This puts us in the lower grade for the play offs, which are at the Wagin Club next Wednesday against Darkan Red.
The games were pretty even and our only downfall was the scoring and pegging (lol), with the captain, Block, scoring our only peg.
Scores were Block 43.35 1 peg, Ducky 42.56, Willo 42.2, R/house Ricky 41.61, BJ 30.66, Tanya 27.12.
Wish us luck.

With added pressure of taking over as Men's Captain for the event, Mr Cool Eagle Boy, Lee Smith excelled himself winning this event with an 82/67 nett, also capturing the Putting Competition with 25 putts. The boys calling him Adam Scott or even better, Eric Gossage. This has steamrolled Lee into the No 1 position in the A Grade Championships with only 2 rounds to go. Runner-up with an excellent score was Scott Jefferis with 87/68 nett. As Scott played with the winner the rumours going around that the golf was consistent and boring. Lee couldn't afford to go bush hiking due to personal hygiene rules so he had to play the 1st nine in record time to get back to the clubhouse. There was more info on this but it might have to stay on course. The gross was won by Dave Wall with an 83, keeping his chances alive to reach top spot. Welcome to new golfer Dean Toovey, who had the box seat in the cart with Graham. We hope you continue to play though probably not always getting the easy ride. Novelties were won by Dean Toovey, Scot Jefferis, Paul Ward and Michelle Ball. Birdie hole was won by Scott Jefferis, drawn by Layla Smith.
Ladies runaway winner and keeping No 1 spot in the A Grade Women was Margie Ward- 95 gross/71 nett, who finally connected, but did say that the group had to set a good example. To Ylana Sheppard who played her first 18 holes with determination and persistence to finish, as the thought was, that maybe twelve holes for the day would suffice. Great to see you again Ylana. Runner-up was the ever consistent Ronnie Ball 110/78. The surprise attendance, who has been saying that she was going to come to golf this year, and winning the Gross after an eight year spell with a 103 off the stick was Michelle Ball. The first hit of the day was a beautiful shot into the trees on the right of 10, but after that Michelle hit the fairways - out of sight. For her blind playing partners to find/follow. One could tell that she had been playing hockey as the putting strength needs to be toned down with her 39 putts. Awesome to have you back in the fold. Good luck to the members travelling Australia! And the ones already touring New Zealand and Europe.
Next week is a Stableford sponsored by Warren Blackwood.

We travelled to Kondinin to play Kulin - Kondinin Vipers after the bye during the school holidays. It was a cold day!! C grade score was nil all in a great game. Coach’s award went to Ashleigh Faulkner and the Kit Kat award went to Morgan Chatfield.
It didn't get any warmer for B grade!! The wind may have picked up a little also....! Well done to the B grade side for an awesome game of hockey. The final score was 3-1 however the score didn't reflect the game. Souths held most of the play with Vipers unfortunately scoring more goals. Trenton Medlen was the goal scorer this week. We took away a lot of positives from this game and we look forward to the run to finals. Thank you to the boarders back from school, we enjoyed you playing this week. Coach’s award went to Cambell Chatfield for a great game as half back.
LGHC V Kulin/Kondinin
Cold and windy is the perfect way to describe the day in Kondinin as we were set to play Kulin/Kondinin for the 3rd time this season.
The game started with a goal in the 5th minute from the baseline courtesy of Tahryn. The remainder of the first quarter consisted of back and forth hockey.
With an addition of another goal from Michelle Gooding (Spud Run), we went into the 4th quarter up 2 nil.
The last quarter of the game saw Kulin draw blood early in and we were hard on defence for what felt like a VERY long time. The score was 2-1 in our favour, credit to the girls for weathering the storm that was Kulin for that period of time. Late in the quarter, Tahryn sealed the game with another goal making the final score 3-1.
Thank you to Jamie for umpiring.
Coach’s Award; Annie Argent.
After a hard fought A grade, the men stepped up to the plate. Weather hadn’t really improved but the rain looked like it was holding off enough. We started with a back and forth tussle before Kulin got the jump on us and slotted one home. This woke the boys up and came out fighting in the 2nd 1/4. Matty Trevenen levelled the score mid-way through the second, pouncing on a rebound of the Kulin goalie. Kulin scored early in the 3rd to put us back on the back foot. Again it was Matt who took his chance and levelled us up again. The final quarter was a hard fought back and forth affair. Both teams were using the ball well. With less than 2 minutes left we managed to win a short corner. This was converted by Jamie to put Souths up with about a 1minute to play. But it wasn’t enough as Kulin managed to sneak down and slide one last one in to tie us up at 3-3. Another minute of play and who knows. Credit to both sides fighting it out to the final whistle. Goals Matty Trevenen 2, Jamie Eggers 1. The guts award went to Matty for his savageness in front of goals.
