Dumbleyung Darts Club

Results from the game Wednesday 26/6/2019

We travelled to Wagin on a rainy night, but after the main storm hit, and played the association top team Gangsters and they robbed us with a 9/2 win in their favour. Some good darts were played, but we were outclassed on this occasion. In the first 2 triples we could not get off the ground and match the scoring or pegging. The first doubles saw Willo and FIFO finally get some scores to take our first win. The next 2 doubles, even with some good scoring, we could not match their game. The first singles saw Ducky win with a highest score. In the rest of the singles we could not take a trick, even with some encouraging words from the captain.

Results were Willo 60.05 1 peg, Block 47.26, FIFO 41.48, R/House Rick 39.96, BJ 35.66, Ducky 32.00 with H/S win.

100's and above R/House Rick 2, FIFO 2, Wilo 2
The next game is again in Wagin against Wagin Redbacks.

Kukerin Dumbleyung Football Club

Picture
Kukerin Dumbleyung travelled to Williams over the weekend to play against Williams on Sunday 30th of June. Results are shown below.

D grade
The D grade Cougars travelled to Williams on Sunday on a cold wet day for footy. With both teams being evenly matched on the ladder it was always going to be a good game. In the slippery conditions the cougars were kicking into the breeze in the first term but managed to have most of the play in their half. Being a goal down at quarter time it was our turn to kick with the breeze and once again we had a lot of the play and managed to get a goal ourselves to get us back in the game at half time.

The third quarter was a tight contest with neither side giving an inch and we found ourselves a couple of points down at final change. With the aid of the breeze once again in the final term the ball was locked in the Cougars forward line, but a goal was hard to come by. Luckily we managed to score a few points which drew us level with the Cats but the siren beat both sides getting a win and a draw was the outcome. A real good game of footy by both sides in wet condition was witnessed by all.

Best player- Rylan Gooding. Mars Bar kids- Thomas Ditchburn and Scarlett Leo. (Pictured above top left from L-R)
Thanks to Dumbleyung Roadhouse for the awards.

We travel to Boddington on Saturday so hope to see plenty of supporters there again.

The last Saturday  in June, the 29th,  sponsored by Galts of Wagin saw a big crowd of men vying for a better stroke round to improve their standings for the A Grade Championships, many not realising that it was a stroke.  The women played a stableford and their stroke round will be the following week.  Mention of the awesome job that was done around the course for the Mens Day on 14 July.  Tee boxes in pristine condition.  Thank you to one and all who rocked up for this massive clean-up.

Great to see Ginge-Trevor Bairstow and son Simon rock up for a catch up with friends both looking quite refreshed after their drive from Kalgoorlie for the day.

The early bird catches the worm and in this case it was Garry Bateup with wife Audrey back from Babysitting duties, Garry kissed and cuddled his wife goodbye to set off for his other daily task - making sure the fire was lit to warm the clubhouse.  After being runner-up the previous week, Garry came out firing on all pins with a walk-away win for the men with a 65 nett -90gross.  Runner-up Lee Smith, certainly hitting good form with a brilliant 67nett-82gross on a count-back from Marc Ball 67nett-84gross.  The Gross was won by the ever consistent barman, jack of all trades, Dave Wall with an 84gross on a count back from the unlucky Marc.  Novelties were won by Margie Ward, Lee Smith x 2 and Howie Ward.   Putting Comp - you guessed it- El President, Eric Gossage,  yet again with 24putts.   The converted Birdie Hole drawn by Lexi Ward, was won by Garry Bateup and guess who missed out after getting 2 birdies - yes - it was the unlucky Marc Ball.

The ladies event was well fought out with young gun Margie Ward winning the day with 34 points, Runner-up Liz Dare - 31points  with the Gross to T Bartram.    Both ladies decided to take a walk on the wild side,  deciding to check out what the men do in the bush.   Margie has her hook down pat, and Liz likes to hit mainly left, both looking for the Orchids  as the song goes - "Where Have All the Flowers Gone,  long time passing".   Mowed by Men !!!!!!  but NO more on this delicate subject.
Next week 6 July, sponsored by Dumbleyung Roadhouse will be a Stroke round for the Women and a Captain's Choice for those not playing in the Great Southern Men's Championships.
Remember the Men's Open day on the 14 July and get your names into the Captains or Margie.

Dumbleyung Netball Club

Duck down! An injury for one of the Dumbleyung Ducks!

The Dumbleyung Netball Club took to the courts on Saturday June 29, Dumbleyung 1 played Cardinals Fever and Dumbleyung 2 played Allstars 3. Both teams played at 3pm and with a few ducks travelling and some out due to injury everyone played a full game with no subs on the bench.

A last minute injury during warm up say new duck, Helena Kendall off to the hospital before the game had started! The results of the x-ray weren’t what we had hoped to hear and unfortunately, Helena aka Kenny is out with a fractured ankle – we wish Helena the speediest recovery and congratulate her on an awesome first season! As Helena was off to hospital familiar face Candice Ward went from spectator to player – thank you Candice for jumping on the court last minute!

Dumbleyung 2 played well with some awesome intercepts and defence by Goal Keeper, Janina Blake and some amazing shots by the attacking duo Paige Morris and Petronella Andersson. Though on the final whistle Allstars 3 had the lead with a final score of Allstars 3 (55) to Dumbleyung 2 (14). Best players went to Janina Blake, Ashlyn O’Donnell and Paige Morris.

This week Dumbleyung 1 welcomed Dumbleyung 2 player Joanna McCracken to the team and for the rest of the season – welcome Jo! Dumbleyung 1 played well and were down by only two points at quarter time. A fast game the ducks saw the margin grow and at half time the ducks were unfortunately now behind by eight points. Though some brilliant intercepts by Pip Gooding and Hanna Chiswell and goals by Elspeth Smith and Jo McCracken in the final quarter (and possibly a little motivation about the Saturday evening Mexican night) the ducks came out firing to win the quarter but unfortunately not enough to win the game! Final score Dumbleyung 1 (28) to Cardinals Fever (35). Best players went to Elspeth Smith, Hanna Chiswell and Jo McCracken.

This weekend both teams play at 3pm, Dumbleyung 1 will play Cardinals Force and Dumbleyung 2 Olympians 3. All are welcome to come along and cheer on the teams!

Lake Grace Kukerin Hockey

We travelled to Corrigin for hockey this week. C grade went down 3/0 which is an improvement on previous games. Corrigin has a very strong side this year and our C grade is performing well against them. Well done team! Award to Cambell Chatfield and the Kit Kat award went to Morgan Chatfield.

B grade
We played after A grade this week and there was definitely a chill in the air come game time! It's always a great game against Corrigin. Corrigin scored 2 early goals and we went down 2/1 this week with Amber scoring a great goal late in the game as a result of some fantastic team work. We played exceptionally well this week with the passing and chatter on the field contributing to playing out a well fought game. Thank you to the team for a great game of hockey. We've moved to third place on the ladder which is great to see! Award went to Stevie this week for playing a great game in a new position. Thank you to my helpers on the weekend. Your support is greatly appreciated.

A grade
Corrigin hosted a day of nice cloud cover and a cool wind that was a great day for hockey.
We didn’t get off to the best start as Corrigin struck the first blow extremely early in the first quarter, like, first minute or two sort of early. Tahryn answered in the sixth minute from a short corner to square things up.

A lot of the play was down the right and Shaylah had a big game as right half. It felt like we had a little control over the game but Corrigin played well giving away nothing.

Tahryn, once again, scored off another short corner in the 4th quarter to get our nose ahead. This didn’t last long as late in the 4th quarter, Corrigin (Taylor Collard) slammed home a fantastic goal levelling the score once again and the game finished as 2-2.

Thanks to Jamie and Steve bolt for Umpiring
Coach’s award; Shaylah Medlan.

Men's
Always a tough one lining up against Corrigin. With a lot of back and forth early on in the game both sides struggling to gain the upper hand. Both teams had a number of chances early. Corrigin controlled the 2nd & 3rd quarters which they score in both. Souths men had a late charge in the final quarter with 3-4 shots on goal only just missing or good saves by the keeper to keep us scoreless. In the end Corrigin ran out 3-0 victors. Credit to South men for not giving up and fighting it out to the final whistle. Our guts award went to Ben hall for his consistent pressure and effort running through the guts all day and not letting up once.
