Davina Gossage, needed the stroke round to qualify for the championships as other commitments, holiday around the world!!, make her unavailable. This she did in style blitzing the field and winning the women's comp. Runner-up was Liz Dare - steady as she goes, Gross, T Bartram and the sought after Putting Comp was Margie Ward.
Men's Winner was a runaway win for Daniel McDougal with 40 points. He was just going to play a few holes to see how his injury was, a suggestion that he just chip around the course might help. But as everyone knows it is very hard for men to just play softly, as the challenge to have a massive hit overcomes them, hence quite often landing in the bush. Heard on the grapevine that when Daniel got 2 shots on a hole he had a par receiving 4 points - hard to beat if you have 6 or 7 pars for the day. Runner-up Howie Ward 37 points on a count-back from the returning holidayed - Graham Ball and the Gross Ricky Mott with 22. Novelties were won by Howie Ward, Graham Ball, Daniel McDougall, and Ricky Mott. Ricky also won the Birdie Hole with his 2 - the only two for the day.
Congratulations to the three travellers who represented Lakeview at the Great Southern Carnival over the weekend. Special mention to Eric Gossage who missed out on winning the overall Nett by one stroke and then missed out on runner up on countback, finishing third with a Nett 71,72. Graeme Jose needed his pitching wedge to behave a bit more on the Saturday but obviously had it sorted by the Sunday to finish with a more reasonable 71 Nett. Jamie Dare fared better by 10 strokes on the Sunday to win the Nett for the day with a solid 68.
Next Saturday is a Stableford with sponsor Nexus - Steve Westbrook.
This Sunday 14th July is the Lakeview Men's Open Day. Names in to Jamie Dare. Late entries accepted.
Thank you to all those who have offered to provide food for the Men’s Open. Please organise to have it at the club house first thing Sunday or prior. For further information regarding catering, please contact Margie.

D Grade
The Cougars took the long road trip to Boddington on Saturday to take on a much bigger side once again. We had a few inclusions thanks to some kids home from school but were missing a couple due to hockey on the same day. Conditions were very slippery but the Cougars started well in the first quarter with the majority of the play up in our forward line. Being in front at the first break was a great effort and the second term was a hard battle also and we saw ourselves down a couple of points at half time.
Conditions improved after the main break with the cougars pushing hard and a goal on the three-quarter time siren saw the Cougars within reach of an upset. The kids were determined for a win and it showed in the last term with plenty of play inside the fifty which produced a goal to put us in front. A goal after the final siren by Howie Clegg sealed the deal as the kids came away with their best win for the year against a side who are placed much higher on the ladder.
Best player - Jonty Robinson. Mars Bar kids - Howie Clegg & Alby Kowald. (Pictured above top left from L-R)
Thanks to Rick and Vick.
We have a well-deserved bye this week with four games remaining after that.

3-1 Win
We started very similar to the way we started against KHATS 2 weeks ago, straight out of the gate with good ball moment which resulted in 3 first quarter goals (Kelsie, Anna and Tahryn).
The second and third quarters were a more traditional back and forth game, with KHATS scoring 6 minutes into the third.
Nothing changed in the fourth with the final score being 3-1.
Thank you to Trish and Jenny for umpiring.
Coach’s award; Mel Eynon for constantly working on improving her game.
Men's
After a rather cold start to the day the men’s game seemed to get the best of the day’s weather with a hit of sun breaking through before play started. School holidays seemed to help both teams as a few young faces graced both sides. Khats kept us scoreless in the first quarter with some great defensive work and a few good saves from the goalie. Quarters 2-3 we went back to basics and our run and link payed off with a lot of scoring opportunities. The last quarter was a fitness game to see who had the legs to hold out. A couple of ripper goals in the last sealed the deal but Khats didn’t back down at all. Credit to the Khats players for the hard-fought game. Special mention to Travis for his first goal and a screamer from Derek who potted a high cross ball late in the game. This week’s guts award went to Mitch smith for his gutsy efforts all day.
