Scott Gray and Kalan Joyce opened the bowling, and were then followed by Nathan Ditchburn and newcomer Will. It was a hard fight to get the first wicket, but when it came, the second fell straight away. Things were looking better, but with Williams danger man at the crease, there was still a lot of work to do. The bowlers continued to keep it tight, but the prized wicket never came. While a few more wickets fell around him, Williams reached 5/186 off their 45 overs.
The opening combination of Dame Leo and Matt Gilfellon commenced well in the chase. Runs were coming without any need for much risk taking. Dame was first out and Kalan Joyce came to the crease. Some tight bowling by Williams slowed the scoring rate, and with 15 overs to go, it was a run a ball needed. At the ten over mark, it was still manageable, but risks needed to be taken to stand a chance. Unfortunately, regular wickets began to fall without any of the batsmen able to get on top of some good death bowling. It was still a close affair, and by the last over, 12 runs were needed. It wasn’t to be though, Kukerin-Dumbleyung finishing on 5/181.
It has not been a great start to the season, but it was good to get a team on the park. There is one game to be played before the Christmas break, against Towns at Narrogin. The outcome will be important for the team. A win could see Kukerin-Dumbleyung returning in February, not far off the pace, but a loss could really hurt their chances of making finals.

Sunday Dumbleyung Junior Tennis Tournament
We had a rather rushed start to the day with the promise of heat. So without the usual formalities we hit the courts. Thank you to our sponsor Clem Henry Shearing Services. Events do not happen without support from our local businesses. Please think local. It is important to support our local businesses to allow events like this to happen for our children.
Thank you to Tara Ball. Without her support, this event would not happen. Between Friday night training nights for our up and coming players, organising and ordering all the food for catering, setting up, packing up and everything in between (Tara also became the classic Scone Queen as we were a little light on for morning tea - they were a hit). Thank you to Derryn Edwards and Lynda Gaull for making all the lunches, and special note to Dave Wall for the blue lines and condition of the courts.
We had a wonderful representation of our future tennis players in our 11/U boy and girl groups. The 13/U girls had a good day with the runner ups having one win each. 13 games for and 18 games against - cannot get much closer than that. We sent them out for another quick game to finish off the day and the 11/U boys finished their day with 3 teams having two wins each with 16 games for, 15 games for and 14 games for splitting them.
And our classic 18/U Mixed Doubles was a hit with a wonderful display of tennis.
18/U Mixed Doubles Champions with 5 wins and 34 games for, Tiffany Gossage and Marshall Henry.
