Dumbleyung Bowling Club

It was a disappointing day of pennants on Saturday when we travelled down to Moodiarrup and lost all three games, even with newcomers but old Dumbleyung stalwarts Boo Temby and Dumbleyung Plumber Malcolm Roberts on board.

Teams were   Skipper: Clem Henry,     Lead: R. Temby,     Second:   P. Payne,   Third:  R. Hall
                                         G. Jose                         G. Bate-up,                   B. Hannah,             M. Roberts
                                         S. Hughes,                   O. Dare,                         P. Crispin,              G. Cronin.

Sorry Clem, we would like to have given you a better send off in your last game for the year. Good luck for your operation, we hope it all goes well and we see you back home soon.

Could everyone please have their names on the board or to their captains for the ladies and men's Club Championship Fours Saturday 26th October.

Kukerin Bowling Club

Last Saturday Kukerin travelled to Lake Grace to play the opening game of pennants for season 2019—20.  The game proved to be a fairly even tussle during the afternoon with Kukerin eventually winning three rinks to one and a 7—1 score. Well done team.

On Sunday the club pairs were played in hot conditions with gusty breezes making for some challenging times for all players.  The ladies competition was very even between the two pairs that played. As is customary the event is played best of three games and congratulations to Debbie Smith and Claudia Faulkner who won from Jenny Joyce and Therese King in three closely contested games.

With a few players not available the men’s pairs was played between four teams as a round robin.  This proved to be a close contest and after two rounds all four teams were on one win each.  The last round saw some very close games. Finally Clive Bahr and Ian Faulkner won their last game narrowly which saw them declared winners from Matthew King and Graeme Taylor who had ironically beaten them in the first game.  The winning teams on the day will now represent Kukerin at the League play-offs in December.

Congratulations and best wishes to Graeme and Debbie Smith on attaining their 40th wedding anniversary on Sunday.

The annual A. & M. Williams bowling classic will be played on Tuesday and Wednesday of this week. With a capacity field of very good bowlers from a large area of the S.W. of W.A there will be some excellent bowls to be witnessed.  A full report on the event will be in next week’s Quack Chat.

Next Saturday Kukerin are at home to Kondinin for our pennant game. There will be pennant practice on Friday afternoon from 4.45 pm for all who can be available.

On Sunday the club triples are to be played.  Starting time will be advised following Saturdays game.
