Winner of the men's and backing up his great score of last week with an awesome score of 40points was Dave Wall. Dave is always first at the club on Saturdays, to open up and organise the bar – he helps the Captains with all sorts of jobs, so this was a well-deserved win.
Paul Ward was Runner-up with 36 points and is another great club member/fantastic Treasurer - always assisting the Club. The Gross was won by another great man and vice-Captain, with 17 gross the sometimes cheeky at times in Lee Smith.
Women's winner on 33 points, Tamara Bartram and runner-up with another good day's golf was Liz Dare backing up her form of last week. The rain did deter anyone from exceptional scores. Liz still likes the bush and I am confident the wildflowers will soon be out in full, as she and Margie vie to find the most in the bush!! The Gross was won by the holidaying Canadian, who hits as far as the men -Margie Ward, coming back from up North after visiting Claire and Michael sharing fishing stories, 30+ temperatures and swimming with crocodiles.
Novelties were won by Margie x 2, Paul Ward, Lee Smith and Stephen Roberts. The coveted birdie hole, only 1 birdie for the day from the members, was won by Tamara Bartram.
Tales from the State Sand Greens held in Brookton over the weekend include a wonderful result of runner up for veteran Eric Gossage, along with a very creditable equal 7th overall Nett. Graham Jose despite his inability to locate firewood and record heavy moisture readings still remains the favourite cart-man even though Jamie Dare’s buggy and bag went for a ride in the creek - apparently far more entertaining to onlookers than the owner!!
Next week is the final round for qualifying and trying to make the Top 8 in A Grade. A very tight competition with men excelling with their scores. Sponsored by Burando Hill, with a stroke, putting comp and Monthly Mug.

Our Ducks won the first centre pass and scored first. It set the scene for an epic contest with each team going goal for goal. Sneaky intercepts, rebounds and minimal unforced errors, enabled our Ducks to gain the advantage which converted to goals. Our Ducks led at the first and second quarter by eight goals.
Going into the second half, our Ducks began to tire. Broomehill responded by tightening their contest, chasing down any loose balls and sensational goal shooting. The third quarter continues to be the nemesis quarter, going down to Broomehill by two goals. But with one quarter to go, our Ducks were not giving up! Staying composed and taking advantage of every turnover, resulted in much needed goals.
The final score was Dumbleyung (61) to Broomehill (53). Best players included Hanna Chiswell, Pip Gooding, Kirra Roberts and Carly Smith.
This weekend (Saturday 19 August) will be Dumbleyung’s last game for the fixtured season, playing Olympians 2 at 3.00pm on Court 4 at the Katanning Leisure Centre. So come along and support us in what is a top table clash! Go Ducks!

With just a few minutes left in the game Dumbleyung had the ball in attack and Scott Angwin was able to gain a goal with quite a few tackles. This enabled Dumbleyung to take out a 2-1 win. Well done to all players, it was a great game to watch.
This week, the team play in Narrogin against Warriors at 2.40pm, and is the last game before the finals.
