B grade
A tough game fought out between Kulin Kondinin Vipers and the Karlgarin Hyden Hockey Club. Vipers were able to score a late goal to win 1/0. Best on ground went to Maddie Earl- Sadler.
A grade
Again, we came up against the Kulin Kondinin Vipers, a game we always knew would be tough. Unfortunately we went down 2/1 and congratulations to Vipers on their win! Best on ground was Tenille Harrington from Vipers. Well done to A grade for a great season and see you in 2020.
Men's
The final game. The one that counts. We hit the deck running in the first drawing first blood inside 10 minutes. Sadly, after that the wheels came off with Corrigin fighting back hard. Two quick goals before half time saw them take the lead. The second half we just couldn’t get our run back. One more goal sealed the deal for Corrigin in what was tough season. Best on ground was Garrick Connelly from Corrigin. Congratulations to all the grand final teams for making it. Thanks to the supporters for all the cheers through the season. Sponsors, a huge thank you for your contributions and time this season. Volunteers, we couldn’t have such an amazing club without your time and effort. See you all at the windup or next season!!
Thank you again to Roe Districts for another successful season. We appreciate all the work our volunteers and club members do around the club and throughout the season. Thank you to our spectators and sponsors for your continued support!
There will be one last article for the season in next week’s Quack Chat following the windup to be held this Friday September 6.
Further, thanks to all the spectators who turned out to support a great day of hockey at the Grand Finals on Saturday. The weather wasn't too bad in the end!! It is fantastic to see such a great following for hockey within our Association.

Ducks Dive and season ends for D1
The Dumbleyung 1 (D1) team played in the semi-final on Saturday August 31 against local Katanning team, the Djets. A strong opposition D1 went into the match ready to play their own game in the hope they may just pip Djets at the post to make it through to the Preliminary final (which is to be played this weekend). With a full team it was nice to have fresh legs on the court each quarter and to see so many D2 and Duck supporters travel to cheer on the team! A strong first quarter D1 gave Djets a good run and only one point behind at quarter time!
Though some strong passes down the court by the opposition in the second quarter saw Djets take the lead and at half time were up by 10 points. Some great goals by Katrina Gray, Jo McCracken and Louisa Dare in the second half helped to reduce the lead but unfortunately it wasn’t enough to lock in a win for D1 finishing 13 points behind. Final score D1 (24) to Djets (37). Best players went to Clare Smith, Elspeth Smith and Louisa Dare.
Two teams, a new court and an exciting year recapped at the Netball Windup!
Last Tuesday August 27, the Dumbleyung Netball Team (and a few husbands/partners) dined on a delicious dinner at the Grande Olde Dumbleyung Inn (GODI) while the Dumbleyung Netball Club Executive announced round by round the final votes and the 2019 Netball award winners. A great night and exciting vote count with two teams this year. Coach Pip Gooding got into the vote count following dinner with a close count for D1 team members Pip Gooding and Hanna Chiswell mid-season. Though overall, a great season for every player – new and returning! However, a special mention to the following ladies who received awards at the 2019 Dumbleyung Netball Club Vote Count and Windup.

Lakeview Golf Club
Lakeview Golf Ladies Open Day & Men's Midweek 4BBB Stableford sponsored by Dumbleyung Ag Supplies - Scott Jefferis & Hanna Chiswell and Grain Brokers Australia - Chad Jefferis was a resounding success. We thank them all for their continued support and the wonderful lunch spread, very popular burgers and awesome trophies for the day. Both boys played in the event and Hanna was heard to say that next year she just might do the same.
Couldn't have asked for a better day -4 seasons in 1.The Captains promising no rain!!! We are situated around the lakes so to prove us wrong the wind came up, the rain came down, the umbrellas, cards, hats went flying, golf balls found their way into the bush for some but not the Harrismith duo.
Congratulations to theLadies Winners - Amanda Davison & Carmen Bailey 49 points. Determination, guts, a talkative opponent kept the winners on track with a few pointers of where not to go. But as usual everyone seems attracted to the bush at some stage and don't really listen to the old and the wise!!! Both girls playing on the course for the 1st time enjoyed the day immensely. Amanda hitting massively long straight balls going past the tree on 4 and the stump on 17 - the benchmarks for long hitters. The shot of the day when her 3rd shot on 17 hit the scrapers and landed on the green. Another new saying for the scribe’s repertoire applies to last minute replacement (after 6 calls by the Captain) Debbie Smith - she is a BOB. I have decided that would be a good way to be hitting straight down the middle.
The runners-up - Marnie West & Ronnie Ball on a countback with 43 points were a late pairing. Marnie scoring, Ronnie driving the cart and scoring a few 3 pointers. Marnie was like the Queen waving to all and sundry, but I am sure that the Queen doesn't go bush as often as Marnie or have a special finger salute. But a brilliant 3rd shot on 17 from out of the bush by her proves that women are all rounders and yes she did Birdie the hole. They would both like to thank Graham and we believe he should now buy Ronnie a cart.
Gross - Karan Murray & Julie Forrest 25 points. Both ladies rocking up early, after an even earlier start for Julie who travelled from Albany and Karan from Gnowangerup. They were sent off into Dumbleyung to have a look at the Pop Up Shop arriving back with their pockets lighter after a spending spree.
Gross runners-up - Alyssa French & Lynley Keley 23 points. Both these long hitting ladies have been coming to our Open days over the years and had a very in-depth discussion of where and how and who will use the soft cuddly towels that they won.
The sought after NAGA was won by long standing veterans!!! Jan Painter and Fe Thompson who were extremely excited about their Rosters win.
Novelties – pick your own from the container were shared over the ladies and men, with Lyn Rae winning the special hole No 1 with a meat pack. The raffles were both won by Julie Forrest.
Men Winners - Marc Ball & Scott Gray 46 points,
Runners-up Malcolm Roberts and Ross Gooding 45 points. Congratulations to Ross for obtaining his handicap on Saturday.
Gross Winners Andrew Bairstow & Sam Broad 28 points.
The men's NAGA on 35points was a 3-way tie with a count back on the last 6 holes with Ricky Mott and Scott Jefferis scoring 8.
A big thank you to Mila for the wonderful tea, the sponsors, all the committee members, players and wives who contributed to another wonderful golf day at Dumbleyung. Also to the men who helped with the washing up. Good to see they have been well brought up by their mothers.

Saturday Elimination Results
1st & 2nd Eliminations were played on the last day of winter, which turned out to be a beautiful day even for the early round at 8.30. Eric kindly offered Stephen to ride in his cart then proceeded to take off after their 1st hit and Stephen’s clubs fell off and hit the ground running - photos never lie. After winning the NAGA on Thursday, Scott Jefferis and Ricky Mott will now be playing off in the A Grade Championships in 2 weeks. Obviously both were spurred on by their NAGA win to improve. B Grade - Paul Ward and Daniel McDougall. A Grade Women: Margie Ward and Tamara Bartram. A very close contest with all the women with Margie winning the last hole to secure the win over Davina. Sporting a slight injury but still super fit, Lion hearted Liz after coming back from being 5 down at one stage, and only losing on the 17th to the Scribe. Congratulations and good luck to all.
Next week is a Stableford sponsored by Edwards Holden.

Dumbleyung Men's Hockey Club
After cementing second spot two weeks ago, Dumbleyung Men's B grade used last weekend against Warriors as a warm up to finals. Warriors, who at the top of the ladder are the biggest threat in the climb to grab the grand final win. They went down with a loss but used the game to learn and regroup ready for a showdown this weekend again against Warriors in the Semi Final. If they win, they proceed straight to the grand final. If they lose, they will play the winner of the other semi final.
Come along and support our men in their finals climb, this Saturday at Narrogin Turf at 2.40pm. Go the green and gold.
