The new Kukerin Tennis courts were put to the test for Round 6 of the midweek tennis competition with Kukerin v Lake Grace and Kukerin New v Dumbleyung both scheduled to play in Kukerin.  It was a wonderful occasion to see all 6 courts in action, excellent tennis played as well as the fun and furore over lunch!

Around the courts, Kukerin had a convincing win over Lake Grace, Tarin Rock defeated Katanning and Dumbleyung defeating Kukerin New which came down to the last game of the day.

Kukerin Bowling Club

Kukerin travelled to Kulin last Saturday for pennants. The team all looking very smart in the new club uniforms which were christened with a win. The game was played in pleasant conditions with a fluctuating and gusting breeze blowing across the green which on occasions made for some frustrating results for all players during the afternoon.  The game commenced with two Kukerin rinks getting away to a great start while the other two were in an intense contest. Toward the end of the match Kukerin’s two early leading rinks were reeled in somewhat while a third rink managed to get home by one shot and the fourth lost narrowly which left Kukerin eventually winning  three rinks to one and the narrow aggregate margin of only twelve shots and a 7—1 win.  This win leaves Kukerin in first place on the ladder at the end of the first round of fixtures.

Sunday’s open invitation social bowls proved a huge success with a number of tennis players (future bowlers ???) joining us for the afternoon. Captain Ross organised teams and a competition for points.  With much laughter and occasional whoopees when results went the right way. All present enjoyed a fun filled afternoon which was followed by a sausage sizzle and some socialising.

Next Saturday Kukerin will host Lake Grace in the continuation of the pennant competition.  There will be pennant practise for all who can be available from 5.00 pm.

Next Sunday there will be a short club meeting at 3.00 pm prior to social bowls.   The club welcomes anyone who would like to join us for a game.
