Dumbleyung Men's Hockey Club
Dumbleyung's second goal was completed when Courtney Bairstow passed the ball to Mark Smith who had a shot at goals. Williams' goalie came out of the goals and stopped the ball with a deflection that Smith followed up. He had another shot at goals and the goalie made contact with the ball but it rolled past and Courtney Bairstow and Ethan Marshall went towards goal with the ball and a final tap by Bairstow ensured the ball rolled over the line.
Williams rebutted and the scores were even proving this to be a tough game to win.
Mark Smith did a beautiful tomahawk from just inside the top of the 'D'to gain the lead for Dumbleyung.
With another hit in by Smith, the ball got past but hit the post and deflected off. Jamie Gray was positioned well and was able to get to and push the ball into goals.
The cracks were showing and wearing Williams down but they kept going and got another goal to make the score 4-3.
A final goal was achieved by Dumbleyung with attacks moving the ball into the 'D' where Jamie Gray committed to a specky dive and made contact with the ball which in turn got past the goalie. The end of the game came and Dumbleyung went away with a smashing win.
Well done to all players. Great defence and attack by everyone and some great saves by Owen Wigg in the newly purchased goalie gear.
Better players were Courtney Bairstow, Scott Angwin and Mark Smith.
This weeks game is in Pingelly at 3pm. Good luck Dumbleyung.

Dumbleyung Netball Club
Our Ducks ran red hot over Katanning team, Cardinals Fever last Saturday, securing a good win and boosting confidence. Although we did not win the first centre pass, our Ducks took to the court like our emblem takes to water! Strong passes, taking advantage of unforced errors and accurate goal shooting saw Dumbleyung nine goals ahead of Fever at the end of the first quarter.
With a couple of position changes in the second quarter, Dumbleyung continued to extend their lead over Fever by another eights goals. Feeling very confident going into the third quarter, the ugly third quarter blues arose with Fever showcasing their talent through their strong defence and turning Dumbleyung’s errors into goals. Fever scored eleven goals to Dumbleyung’s seven in the third quarter.
Although the third quarter set Dumbleyung back, our Ducks still held a healthy lead and again experimented with a few position changes. Wing Attack Hanna Chiswell donned the Centre bib while Centre Carly Smith went into Wing Attack. For the rest of the team Lou Dare played in Goal Keeper, Ally Peters in Goal Defence, Chloe Bairstow in Goal Attack, Katrina Gray in Goal Shooter and Janelle Bairstow in Wing Defence. The change paid dividends with Dumbleyung winning the final quarter, twelve goals to Fever’s eight.
The final score: Dumbleyung (48) to Cardinals Fever (31). Best players for Dumbleyung included Ally Peters, Carly Smith, Hanna Chiswell and Louisa Dare. A brilliant win by our Ducks!
Thank you to our supporters for coming along to watch our game and cheer us on! And thank you to the community for supporting the Netball Club canteen at our home footy game last Sunday.
Round nine, commences Saturday 1 July with Dumbleyung to play Olympians 2 on Court 2 at 3.00pm. So if your making the trip to Katanning this weekend to watch the footy, feel free to pop across to the netball courts to support our Ducks!

Pictured below: Runner up Cheryl Snell with Jamie Dare. | Well what a great day and a fantastic turn out for the day sponsored by Edwards Holden. The rains had come and gone, men were ecstatic, everyone in a very jovial mood, though Howie was waiting patiently for his golf clubs to arrive. Well at last Poppy, Graham Ball, had a good win with 37points on a countback from the young, good looking smiling assassin, Lee Smith 37 points. Gross was won by Jamie Dare and the 9 hole comp was won by young Scott Jefferis who was pleased to come out and play golf after a hard day’s work. Novelties were won by Audrey Bateup, Marc Ball, Scotty Jefferis, Bob Hannah and Jamie Dare. There was a toss of the coin for the birdie hole but not too sure who secured that, Jamie or Lee, either way they always seem to hit birdies. Ladies winner with a great score of 39 points was T Bartram (actually beating the men with this score which doesn't happen very often), runner-up on a count back with 33 points was Cheryl Snell, continuing her good form and the gross was won by Margie Ward! A great effort after missing the previous week due to a slight mishap!! Next Saturday will be a Stableford sponsored by M Ward - All Occasion Celebrant, so I think that the prizes might be quite interesting from a very interesting lady who always has great unusual ideas.
