Dumbleyung Men's Hockey Club
The game was underway and with a few stumbles and spills, the men settled in comfortably to a clean and great game of hockey.
The first goal was a beautiful hit by Courtney Bairstow into the net from just inside the circle within the first ten minutes.
Minutes later an impressive tomahawk shot by Mark Smith hit John Bride in the mouth and took him out of game. Ouch, we hear you say. Yes definitely not a pleasant hit but John was okay and no hospital visits were required.
With half time fast approaching, spectators saw what looked to be another goal by Dumbleyung however having hit a foot prior to going in it was not called.
After half time the men were swiftly back into the role of the game and a second goal was pocketed when Scott Angwin got the ball on the outside of the d running it in and doing a short square pass to Mark Smith who was able to turn and put the ball away into the net.
Another opportunity soon arose for the men when they had a shot at goals and with the goalie out of position another opposition player kicked the ball to save leading to a penalty stroke. The team decided this would be taken by Scott Angwin. Scott was able to get the flick past the goalie into the back net to put the score to 3-0.
Olympics had not had many shots on goals by this point but the odd shot was proving they still had some fight left.
Dumbleyung got the run on the ball and forced the goalie to come out from his spot in goals. Scott Angwin managed to get the ball around behind and then pushed towards the goal with a nice deflection by Courtney Bairstow.
With the game drawing to a close, Michael Atkins ran down and with a sneaky steal grabbed the ball and popped it to Courtney from top of the d who used a nice gentle deflection to get it past the goalie.
There were plenty of magnificent yet unsuccessful shots on goal all throughout the game.
Some fantastic defence work was carried out by half backs and full backs. Well done.
Better players were Scott Angwin, Marshall Henry and Shane Hall.
Next week the team will play at home, Stubbs Park, against the Narrogin Riffs at 3pm. All are welcome and encouraged to attend.
Great work everyone.

Dumbleyung Netball Club
Our Ducks started strong with Carly Smith in Centre (C), Hanna Chiswell in Wing Attack (WA), Chloe McDougall in Goal Attack (GA), Louisa Dare in Goal Shooter (GS), Katrina Gray in Wing Defence (WD), Alison Peters in Goal Defence (GD) and Roisin Ball in Goal Keeper (GK) with Kojonup 1 leading only by 6 goals going into the second quarter.
The second quarter saw Janelle Bairstow take to the court in WD but Kojonup raised their pace, taking advantage of turn overs and converting to goals which saw them extend their lead. The third quarter our Ducks had their best scoring quarter. Chloe McDougall and Lousia Dare shot ten goals between them with our defence in Roisin Ball and Hanna Chiswell limiting Kojonup to scoring sixteen goals. However, it was Kojonup’s day, which saw them run away with the goods in the fourth quarter, despite our Ducks determination to regain control and take out the opposition along the way!
The final score: Kojonup 1 (76) to Dumbleyung (34). This is the smallest winning margin for Kojonup 1 this season, proving that our Ducks are playing tremendously this season! Best players for Dumbleyung included Hanna Chiswell, Katrina Gray and Carly Smith.
Round four, Saturday 20th May see Dumbleyung play Cardinals Force on Court 2 at 1.30pm. May the force be with our Ducks!
