Kukerin Bowling Club
On Sunday prior to social bowls there was a general clean up of the clubhouse, green and surrounds in preparation for the annual two day bowls classic to be played this week. One competitive game of social bowls followed.
Next Saturday Kukerin travel to Kulin for the continuation of the pennant competition. This will be another test for the club as Kulin have been one of the powerhouses of the competition for many years. Pennant practise will be from 4.30 pm Friday afternoon for those who can be there.
Sunday will see the first of the championship events with the club triples to be played. Players are asked to let the captain know if you wish to play. Starting times will be advised following play at pennants on Saturday.

Dumbleyung Tennis Club

Dumbleyung Tennis Solaris Care night sponsored by Sportspower - Ashley & Louise Clark saw a great crowd playing on a beautiful tennis night, stars shining, no wind, beautiful food. We were concerned when the Rednecked Captain in a red shirt we ask you, was seen hugging his Kukerin partner Marnie and hoped that he was going to change tactics on Sunday - obviously did but suffered the consequence when hit dramatically. Pictured left: Jamie Frost and Leonie Nolte.
Grass is certainly a winner with an older player Johnny Lee who was seen diving for a certain winner, with his black hat still in tack, he did say that he tripped but it certainly looked impressive from the side-lines. Dave Wall was the dark horse with his wiley shots, being the greenkeeper, new all the spots to hit winners.
Winners on the night were the Smith crew of Kirsty, Joel Want both very handy players, actually if was great to see them as they now live in Albany and Troy& Carly Smith. Runners-up were Marnie & Karl West, Glenn Ball and Lou Dare who was really ecstatic as she doesn't normally win anything, gave a great speech and then proceeded, when called upon to draw the raffle, draw herself but had a few more draws from her winnings - all in a good cause for Cancer.
Ashley then gave everyone a voucher for a 20% discount at the shop, he did mention that Dumbleyung Tennis have always supported them very generously. So thanks to the Clarks for their wonderful sponsorship on the night and to the awesome spectators and players. Also championship doubles are on Sat and can everyone get their names in. BBQ tea, salad to share.
Wednesday ladies had a win against Katanning, congratulations to Petronella Andersson on her first Pennant match time. We play Kukerin at home this week.
Dumbleyung Toolibin Pennant Tennis
The 2 Dumbleyung Shire teams met on a unusual weather day on Sunday 22/10 to play pennants. Pouring with rain and people deciding to do other activities in the morning but with the weather clearing the match was on.
Dumbleyung being out to improve on their last weeks thumping by Dudinin decided that drinking the day before was a no no but there were some wayward members partying on at the Lake at the Sundowner. A dark night and not even the moon to get them to their destinations saw them safely home, it is amazing feat considering the crossing of a large expanse of water that they had to navigate. Congratulations to Ethan Henry, Megan Henry, Chloe McDougall and the team of Jane Smith(called away on medical) and T Bartram filling in, all winning 5 sets.
Well done to Pip Bairstow-4 sets, playing well after her winning the Sports Award at the Year 12 presentations at Narrogin, and also to Carly Smith with 4 sets looking in much better shape this week. Our Rednecked funnel drinking Captain has now a new change of name, after today's marathon tennis match, (we now have blue lines marking the tennis area) and being hit and turning blue, with the red language, so Blue Balls is his name, not Glenn. Next week he could have another interesting name we will keep you posted.
After their good tennis on Friday Marnie and Karl West were early to have another hit on the grass, but of course with the rain the courts played completed different. Final scores being Dumbleyung 21sets 167 games to Kukerin 13sets 146 games.
Our current pool Manager Jane, was seen to have been cheering the opposition on, and when questioned about her priorities, informed us that Tracy was a really close friend, and her offsider Pool Manager for years, only she didn't really know that Tracy is a left-hander and has been all her life- we all learn something new every day. It was great to see Ben Hall playing his 1st Pennant match for Kukerin and winning his mixed with Tracy Taylor Congratulations. Don't forget names to Captain Glenn Blue Balls for the Championship Doubles on Saturday.
