Kukerin Bowling Club
Sunday saw small but dedicated bowlers enjoy very good and competitive bowling in ideal conditions for the afternoon.
Next Saturday Kukerin will travel to Lake Grace to continue the pennant competition. There will be pennant practice for all who can be there from 4.30 pm this Friday.
Sunday will be social bowls commencing at 1.30 pm. This will be the last chance to get into top form as the championship events commence the following weekend.
The A & M Williams Bowls Classic is the next major event on the calendar. This will be played on October 24 and 25 and at time of writing, a capacity field have entered from many areas of the Southwest of W.A. Some very good bowls should be witnessed during both days of the event.
Good bowling and good luck to our teams of travelling bowlers this week, who will contest events at Middleton Beach and Albany Bowling Clubs.

The run chase didn’t start that well for our boys being 2-0 in the first over. A partnership from Kal and Pete Joyce steadied the ship for a while, but regular wickets fell once again and we were eventually all out for 127. Well done to Pete Joyce for top scoring with 60 runs.
It was a great day enjoyed by all and both clubs interacted well during and after the game.
We have a week off now to recover, with the first game of the season proper being on the 28th of October against Harrismith.

Dumbleyung Toolibin Pennant Tennis
The commencement of the new Tennis season saw last year's Grand Finalists playing their 1st game with an awesome display of Tennis from the Dudinin crew. Defeating Dumbleyung 27sets 182 games to 7 sets 105 games proved a sound defeat. A mention must be made of the motley hung-over crew's dedication to drive back from far and wide, to play the 1st pennant game, with most members suffering badly from alcohol poisoning, tiredness and lack of sleep.
There were a few who were normal but not too many! Congratulations to Tara Ball and Julie Ramm on winning their Ladies doubles, Megan Henry her singles, with the mixed pairs of Carly Smith & Jon Ward, Ethan Henry & Julie Ramm and Marshall Henry & Tamara Bartram halving their mixed doubles.
Megan did make the comment to Jamie Dare that she felt he would win 5 sets but this was not to be (winning only 6 games). Our Men's Captain commented he had never lost a pennant game by this much, with only one of the older playing members remembering winning 3 sets against Wagin and 5 sets against Dudinin in years gone by.
For the opposition, Davina Gossage played her 1st ladies singles in pennants and won! With her daughter Tiffany winning 3 sets for Dudinin. A bus trip home, thanks to Megan, was loud and raucous and we are all back to celebrating our losses with gusto. This week we play Kukerin in Pennants (in Dumbleyung) and social tennis on Friday. Organise your teams for the SolarisCare event (this Friday) with team names to be given to Tara or Glenn Ball.
Sponsors Ashley & Louise Clarke of Sportspower Katanning will be in attendance if you need any tennis gear.
