Dumbleyung Darts Club

Allstars were to play Yongas, but they forfeited. An easy win. This was the last game of the season and we now go into finals next Tuesday. We played our club championship games. Started with singles and 7 players in a round robin best of 3, 301.

Upset after upset was the order of the day, the biggest being Graham thrashed by Tanya, losing two games straight. Winner on the night was Swannie, with 3 runners up. Yet to be decided.

The men played on Saturday July 30 and had a great home ground win, 1-0 against Olympics, goal scorer Courtney Bairstow.  Well done boys.  August 6th sees a turf game in Narrogin against Warriors at 1.15pm.

Lakeview Golf Club

A great crowd came to play for the ‘Wagin Stable Gear’ sponsored day, with Rhonda Carbone & Maurie Scullard in attendance.  The meat packs were also a big hit!

Thanks to both Rhonda and Maurie for coming to celebrate the day and presenting the trophies. The great food was enjoyed by all.  Welcome to new member Darryl Gaull, our new policeman, who won the day with a great score of 39points, pipping the old stalwart Bob Hannah with 38points. The arrival of Darryl and his wife Linda to Dumbleyung will no doubt benefit the golf club, tennis club and bowling club.

Gross was won by the ever reliable Eric Gossage who shot 39 on the front 9 but seemed to be overawed by his golf?? - or is he keeping his handicap for the sand greens!
Also new player Japp Plenaar, Landmark's new Agronomist working for Scott and Hannah, playing his first game said that he enjoyed the course after a slow start, and winning a novelty.  Ladies winner Tamara Bartram with a great score of 46points commented she hasn’t hit that sort of score for 20years or more.

Runner-up was Ronnie Ball with 35points - was great to see Ronnie making an appearance after holidaying continuously.  Gross won by Davina Gossage with 14.  Novelties were won by Bob, Eric, Graeme, Tamara, Japp and Ronnie.

Next week will be sponsored by Galts of Wagin with a Par event.  Hope Marc Ball makes a full recovery and we see him next week back at the Captain's desk.  A big thank you to Lee Smith who filled in with flair.

Dumbleyung Netball Club

Our Dumbleyung Ducks faced Allstars 2 for the second time this season.  We played very well against Allstars 2 in the first round (45 – 33 in Allstars 2 favour) so we were all pumped for a great game this round.

This game, we also farewell Alison Peters and Petronella ‘P’ Andersson who are both heading off on holidays.  We will miss them both for the remainder of the season and wish that they have a wonderful and safe holiday!

Allstars 2 came out blazing with accurate goal shooting and taking advantage of all ball turnovers.  Our Ducks fought hard to get the ball down to our goal end with the ever-mighty defence chasing down loose balls and gaining some spectacular rebounds.

Our third quarter was our best, keeping Allstars 2 to scoring only 8 goals to our 6.  It was a brilliant effort by our Ducks across the entire court.  The final score for the day was 50  -18 in Allstars 2 favour.  Unfortunately, the score does not reflect how well our Ducks played.

The Ducks went onto socialise at Carly Smith’s house for a wonderful evening of fun and plenty of netball banter!  Thank you to Carly and Clare Watts-Smith for organising a great night out for our Ducks!

We have a bye this Saturday 6th August.  So our next game will be Saturday 13th August against Cardinals Fever at 1pm on Court 4.  This will be our second last game of the fixture season so come on down to Katanning to watch our Ducks in action!

And lastly, belated congratulations, to one of our Ducks, Clare Ward on marrying Dumbleyung Hockey legend Michael Atkins.  A beautiful wedding and gorgeous reception, that found many a Netball Club member on the dance floor late into the night!  Enjoy your honeymoon and we hope you only get to read this when you return home.
