Kukerin Lake Grace Hockey Club

Picture
Lake Grace - Kukerin Hockey Club Played KK vipers on Saturday in Kukerin with a great turnout of supporters.

C grade lost 7-0 award went to Sam Doney. Coach Stevie said he did an awesome job in goals.

B grade had a tough game on their hands as they came up against the top of the ladder. With some of the players back after a few weeks away the team was strong. They ended up winning 2-0 Goal scorers Jess Davidson and Karen Faulkner. The award went to Anne Argent in goals.

The A grade girls came out fighting hard with the pace fast from the first whistle. The girls played well as a group and talked well throughout the game. By the end of the first half we had lost two players to injury and the girls just got stronger and the intensity just kept building. At the final whistle the girls won 5-1 Goal scorers 2 Tahryn Trevenen 1 Mel Ogilvie 1 Shaylah Medlen 1 Anna Taylor. The award went to Anna Taylor.

All the best to Stevie, Robyn and Rebecca for a speedy recovery. Thanks Anna, Tracy and Trish for umpiring.

Wishing everyone heading to country week this weekend the best of luck in Perth.

Lakeview Golf Club

GREAT SOUTHERN 4BBB PAR CHAMPIONSHIPS Saturday 10 June 2017 at Lakeview Dumbleyung

Well, the day commenced with a cool early morning and the sun just rising over the golf club for Captain Jamie Dare for the Great Southern 4BBB Par Championships, sponsored by Country Wide Insurance Brokers - Ray Ball at the Lakeview Golf club.  Country Wide have been sponsors of this event for many, many years and will be for many years to come with next year being held at Williams. A big thank you to Country Wide for their continued support of this awesome event which saw 96 players vying for the magnificent trophies with the first hit off being 8:00am.

Thank you to Owen Dare for braving the weather and being the starter from Tee 10, and also being our dogsbody for the rest of the day and a wonderful club member over the years.  Players were warned about keeping to the left on No 11 as the normally small lake on the right had crept up to about 5 metres from the fairway, after the rains in February.  Obviously not many listened to the words of advice as a few wayward shots over the day saw a collection of balls land in the water never to be seen until the lake subsides again.

The course was in a magnificent state and thanks to all members who have contributed to this wonderful day.  The food was to die for thanks to members and their wives, we have exceptional cooks all round and the coordination of it all led by Margie Ward, with her die hard crew of  Cheryl Snell, Liz Dare, Tamara Bartram and Davina Gossage, who for 2 days prepared the food and had the club house in tip top condition. Also thanks to Karen Ward who helped with the cards and in the kitchen/bar all Saturday.

Ken Adams, President of the Association, looking very upmarket in his suit, gave his address and commented that he had never marked a card for 9 holes that were all pluses, as he had played with the winners of the Nett.  They had only +1 after 9 holes and then blitzed the course with +16 awesome golf.

Then it was time for our very own dapper Captain in coat and tie to announce the final results of the day. This event is firstly a Gross event with the Shield also presented to the winners.

Gross winners:  P Moore and M Warburton from Williams +2;  Gross runners-up: W Palumbo & R O'Dea from Narrogin +1;   Gross 3rd: N & R Crosby from Woodanilling all square;  Gross 4th:  on a countback were L Garstone & C Lecki from Katanning Country Club -1;  Gross 18holes:  M Becker & K Crosby from Woodanilling  on a countback all square.

Nett winners:  Evan Williams & Jamie Dare from Lakeview +17;  Nett runners-up: D Ramm & L Steere from Katanning Country Club +16;  Nett 3rd:  K George & N Broom from Wagin +15;    Nett 4th on a countback D Watt & T Bate from Wagin +14;  Nett 18 holes:  Bob Hannah & Eric Gossage from Lakeview +10.

NAGA was a clear winner with D Carter and P Hogg from Williams snaring the prize.

Dongolocking Plumbing Malcolm & Kirra Roberts sponsored the novelties on the day and were a great success - a box of golf balls which were very sought after on the day, especially for those who did lose a few in the lake.  The lucky winners were:  Les Gambrell, G Whitex2, Warby & Killer in the hole 3rd shot No4 had to 1/2 their win - oh to be so good boys, P Hogg, C Leitch, Eric Gossage, Boris, Clemo, C Buller, Dave Wall, Hawkeye, T Buller, Michael Kowald in the hole-3rd shot No14, Scott Ewen, Jayden, Ricky Mott, Paul Ward.

I heard via the grapevine that the entertainment commenced at about 8.30, after most had left that night, and that the singing, playing golf at night on No 1 etc was very interesting.

Next Saturday will be a Qualifying round -Stroke, MM and a BBQ to follow so please bring along a salad or sweet to share with the sponsors being Flexitrans Darren & Carmen Bairstow.

Dumbleyung Men's Hockey Club

Picture
Pictured above: Dumbleyung Men's Hockey team in action at Wagin last weekend.
The Dumbleyung Men’s team travelled to Wagin on Saturday to play the team on top of the ladder. There has always been a friendly rivalry with Wagin. The game started off strong with a lot of good defence skills. Dumbleyung had most of attack throughout majority of the game and managed to be the first on the scoreboard with a good goal by Mark Smith with a push just inside the circle. Not long after Wagin managed a rebuttal goal. Dumbleyung powered on and were able to get the ball into attack with a push from Andrew Shepherd through to Mark Smith who pushed it past the goalie.
Wagin again came back with another goal.

The ball was put back into Dumbleyung’s attack and the team were up against a fierce goalie. He came out leaving the goals exposed and Courtney Bairstow was able to push past goalie and put the ball into the goals. The final score was 3-2.  A great win against the top team.

Better players were Mark Smith, Shane Hall and Scott Angwin.

There is a bye this week. Next week’s game, Saturday June 24, will be held at Stubbs Park, Dumbleyung at 3pm against Williams.

Our Ducks are grinning after brilliant win!

Our Ducks are back in the winner’s circle!  And boy are they happy!  Playing an evenly matched Kojonup 2 side, it was going to be a great game for both teams.  Unlike Kojonup, our Ducks only had seven players, meaning a full game for everyone on the team and no injuries could be afforded.

The first quarter showcased how evenly matched both teams were, scoring goal for goal, with Dumbleyung going into the second quarter one goal up on Kojonup. The second quarter saw our Ducks rise, with many intercepts across the centre court, goal rebounds from our defence and text book play in our attack.  Dumbleyung scored seventeen goals to Kojonup’s nine as a result.

In the third quarter, Kojonup stepped up a gear.  Their aggression at the centre pass and taking advantage of unforced errors ensured they scored much needed goals.  By the fourth quarter, our Ducks were feeling a win coming their way!  Keeping their heads high, holding strong leads and fielding some brilliant passages of play, our Ducks scored fifteen goals to Kojonup’s six.

The final score: Dumbleyung (51) to Kojonup 2 (32).  Best players for Dumbleyung included Carly Smith, Chloe McDougall and Pip Gooding.

It was a sensational win by our Ducks and a game to be proud of!  We know the next time we play Kojonup 2 they will come out firing!  Thank you to Amanda Gilfellon and Roisin Ball for time keeping and child minding during the game.

Round six, commences Saturday 17 June with Dumbleyung to play Broomehill on Court 2 at 1.30pm.

Dumbleyung Gymnastic's Club

Hello Everyone, hope we all enjoyed the long weekend break. Gym is back Monday 12th June
Look forward to seeing you all there. Money is WELL past due. If you are unsure of what to pay, please contact Jasmine Mycock via jaz.mk321@gmail.com

Kindergym is done for another term and will be back again in term 4. Thanks to Michelle for entertaining the little people of our club.

Here are the main points to read and ponder
1.  Two more Sporting schools - 12th June and 19th June - 2.45-3.45pm
There is NO sporting school in the last week of school(26th June)

2.  26th June - General gymnastics ONLY 3.30-4.30pm - NOTE change of time

3. Any creative people out there? We are in the Dumbleyung Shire calendar representing our gym club. We need a picture by August; we are the month of April 2018, perhaps an Easter theme? Thinking caps on please.

4. COMPETITION time - please let us know if your child is participating by June 26th, the final gym for this term as this will be the best time to be measured for leotards and gives us enough time to order and receive. If you pull out of competition after the registration date (next term), you will still need to pay, otherwise it costs the club too much. Thanks for your understanding.

5. We need a new secretary and treasurer for 2018, please consider being a part of our executive next year and helping out. Jaz and Helen are happy to teach the ropes.

6. Catering July 30th. Check the forthcoming roster for your name and we would appreciate afternoon tea from everyone.
Reminders will be sent post holidays.

Thanks everyone, hope the gymnasts are still having fun and learning heaps
