Kukerin Golf Club
On Sunday afternoon (July 2) Kukerin Golf Club held their third qualifying round sponsored by Michelle and Kim at KGS. The windy conditions did not scare anyone away with 18 golfers turning up to tough it out. After some good rounds and not so good rounds, with a few balls flying over the fence, all the golfers got in before the sun disappeared. Before we got stuck into the day’s results, Mark Stevens had a special presentation for our Hole-In-One champ Matt King from earlier in the year. Matt received a generous prize of $500 (thanks to Mark for the sponsorship).
Seven ladies battled it out and Debbie Smith won the day with a quality 99-72 on a countback for the second week running from Marnie West who hit 104-72. Therese King won the gross hitting 98 off the stick. Tim Adams continued his good form finishing on top for the men hitting 81-70 followed by Matthew King 89-72, who finished second on a countback with Barney Smith. Thanks to KGS for the great sponsorship and Kim and Michelle Gooding for coming out for a hit.
Next weekend KGC will be holding a Bisque Par competition on Saturday. Good luck to all the men going to Open days next week.
On Thursday the 12th of July, Kukerin Golf Club is holding the UGS/EGS Ladies Foursome event. All members are encouraged to assist on the day with food/bar and other bits and pieces. If you can help with food, get in contact with Jenny Joyce. This Sunday we will have a working bee at 9am to clean up the course.

Dumbleyung Netball Club
Our Ducks were keen to get back on court and give it their all against Katanning team Allstars 2. The Allstars 2 team is a very experienced team and are known for their ability to jump and scoring accuracy.
Our first quarter, our Ducks were firing. Interceptions, forced errors and scoring goals! Our Ducks were seven goals up at the end of the first quarter. Going into the second quarter, both teams made some changes which was to Dumbleyung’s favour. The pressure of our defence was too strong with rebounds, interceptions and backline throw-ins being turned into our goals, extending our lead to twenty seven goals!
The second half saw Allstars 2 tighten their reins and our Ducks were challenged! Each team scored goal for goal and any mistake was quickly converted to a goal by either team. But our Ducks fought hard and extended their lead by another five goals.
The final score was Dumbleyung (58) to Allstars 2 (35). Best players for Dumbleyung, Amanda Gilfellon, Chloe McDougall and Roisin Ball.
Our next game is Round 10 Saturday 21st July with new fixtures to come out soon. Good luck Ducks!

Dumbleyung Hockey Club
The Dumbleyung Men played at home last Saturday against rival Warriors.
Despite some tempers amongst the rivals it was a fantastic game. Dumbleyung were in the lead for most of the game and had majority of the play in the second half. However, the end result was a draw of 2 all - a great result against the current top team.
Well done to Hayden Gossage who took on goalie and did a fantastic job. Thanks also to Rohan Morris and Orson Bairstow for filling spots.
Goalscorer was Scott Angwin x 2.
Better Players were Mark Smith, Scott Angwin and Orson Bairstow.
There are no games for two weeks due to junior carnivals.

Another lovely lady managed 6 points on the first 9 and then after a well needed refreshment break, came galloping home with 20 points on the second 9! Maybe Tamara is onto something.
Winner yet again was the graceful Liz Dare with 31 points. Davina Gossage was awarded runner up, along with the comment that the score was not deserving of a prize! Margie Ward snuck in as Gross winner and was the Birdie hole winner yet again, much to the delight of the men. The scribe decided that if this elusive prize is won by the women, their results should be posted first.
The ladies are hopeful that with Liz heading away later in the month, they may get a chance at the winning berth. They are also hopeful that the course conditions will allow for great scores!!
It was great to see our international member Brian Lynch pop across and play, complete with his excellent accent. There was some concern that even though he played the round with son-in-law Marc Ball, they were both seen at the opposite ends of the bar afterwards…
With a reasonable score of 39 points, the other Dare participant, Jamie, came home with the goods for the men. Runner up was a very happy Garry Rowdy Bateup on 36 points and Dave Wall claimed the Gross.
The two intrepid travellers, Graeme Jose and Eric Gossage, managed to represent Lakeview at the Great Southern Championships in Narrogin over the weekend. Two days of Stroke is not for the faint hearted. They found the new course a little hard to beat and with much bribing, convinced the scribe to not publish the scores. Rumour has it that a red texta was a feature on day 2 for one of the gents.
This Saturday is another wonderful Stroke round, sponsored by the majestic Margie and All Occasions.
Following this on Sunday July 8th is the Men’s Open so please make sure you get your names to Jamie if you haven’t already. Here’s hoping the weather isn’t quite as wild and woolly!
