Dumbleyung Netball Club

Last game of the season for our Ducks

In what was nearly a forfeited game by Katanning team, Fusion, our Dumbleyung Ducks were able to play their last game of the season with a last minute timeslot reschedule.  We also recruited two new recruits in Adele and Ebony Smith who both played fantastically in their first senior netball game.  Adele and Ebony spent much of their primary school years watching Mum Elspeth play netball and it was wonderful to see them playing along side their Mum!

The game was quite intense with Fusion needing to win this game to make it to the finals and they put great pressure on our Ducks across the whole court.  With accurate goal scoring Fusion got away early.  Our defence and centre court players were kept on their toes and with some fantastic intercepts were able to work the ball down to our goal end.

Our supports were in force on the weekend, cheering on our Ducks throughout the game and although our girls played one of their best games this season the final score did not go our way.  Fusion were victorious in the end 44 to our 21 and thus our final game for the season.

Our Ducks celebrated the end of season back at the Dumbleyung Club with drinks and dinner.  Thank you to Carly and Clare for organising our get together and to Tanya Kirk for keeping our thirst quenched and for the scrumptious buffet dinner.

And finally well done to our Ducks for pursuing the season they have.  Playing in the Division 1/2 grade presented many challenges and while it didn’t show on the scorecard how well we all played, feel proud knowing you have all stepped up to the challenge this year.  Thank you to Janelle for coaching our team in your inaugural year as coach.  It was a tough year but well done on a stellar effort.  Thank you to all of our supporters throughout our season on and off the court and to fellow readers of the Quack Chat, we hope you have enjoyed our Netball Club updates.

Our awards presentation will take place at the Annual Winter Sports Windup to be held at the Dumbleyung Hall, Friday 16 September.  Tickets are on sale now.  If you require more information please contact the Dumbleyung CRC.

Dumbleyung Men's Hockey Club

Dumbleyung play Williams in Dumbleyung 3pm on Saturday 27th August so hopefully there won't be too many tired attendees after the play night.

Lakeview Golf Club

Captain Marc Ball blitzed the field on Saturday with a 83 off the stick 66 nett winning the Burando Hill trophy, the Birdie Hole and the MM  for the day.  This amazing finish saw him qualify 2nd in the A Grade  the runner-up, although only hitting 5 drives on fairway, the rest in the bush,  playing the game of his life, and for the 1st time hitting under 90  with an 88 off the stick, 69 nett was Jamie Dare.

Gross was won by the ever reliable Eric Gossage with an 85.  The women were out in force,  Ladies winner was T Bartram 73nett.   Runner-up Cheryl Snell, who commented that she didn't get to sleep after the big win in the Holden Scramble on Sunday until after 12 that night, with a best score for a long time and no windies, with a 74nettt;  and it was great to see Karen Ward back, winning the gross for the day. The rain fell and 1 lady, no names mentioned but her hair is sort of redish and curly and  the youngest, decided to retire to watch the Football? or whatever, but give her credit we did see her back for the BBQ.    Novelties were won by Marc, Karen, Jamie, Howie, Eric.  The putting competition saw Jamie Dare winning with 25putts - no wonder he played so well.

The coming Saturday 27 and Sunday 28 will see the 1st & 2nd Elimination Finals being played.    Please do not be late.  The winners will go on to play on Sunday - times to be decided after Saturday's play.  The B Grade will be a straight final on Saturday 10 September with Lee Smith playing Bob Hannah.

The draw for the A Grade is below.

Lake Grace-Kukerin Hockey

The weather was beautiful this week as Lake Grace Kukerin travelled to Corrigin for the semi finals.
C grade was a great game but unfortunately lost to Bruce rock when it went to flicks 2-1. Awards went to all the kids for a great game and season. Thanks Stevie for coaching.

The sun was shining bright for the B grade as they came out fighting and didn't give up winning the game 1-0 goal from Tayah.

Good luck for next week's preliminary final as they take on KK vipers in Narambeen.

The A grade had a hard game against Bruce Rock unfortunately going down 2-1 goal to Anna Taylor.

Well done to all the girls. Thanks Anna for coaching.
