Lakeview Golf Club
Winners of the men on a countback was Garry Bateup with 39points, runner-up Ricky Mott, 3rd was Paul Ward 38points and Gross Dave Wall with 20 on a countback from Stephen Roberts. Winner of the ladies was T Bartram. Novelties were won by George Bartram, Paul Ward, Graeme Jose with Stephen Roberts also winning the Birdie hole.
A few comments and interesting facts of the day's play: Lee Smith would be a great golfer if he could putt; Graeme Jose would be a better golfer if he couldn't hook; Jamie Dare's score would have been better if not for the windy under the tree; Dave Wall thought that the Ladies Captain was always aiming too high, expecting Eagles and Birdies; Dave was the guru of putting not missing any 3ft putts and giving his partners a lesson in golf along the way, though he did say that he hadn't seen Jamie Dare hitting the fairways so often for a long time; Ricky Mott amazed everyone when on the last hole he was still playing with his original ball, probably a 1st for a while.
Bob Hannah once again taking the limelight with his cart running out of fuel - note that he hasn't put fuel in for the last 2 years - Reasons given and suggested were: Lola spends all the money shopping, the Govt need to increase the pension, Bob needs to convert to solar power, Garry thought Bob's buggy was electric and the best part was his guardian Angel Jose, who was just passing by to lend a helping hand.
Next week will be sponsored by Bunge, a 2 man Ambrose, and we wish Stephen Roberts and Kim all the best for their wedding overseas.

On Saturday afternoon, Kukerin Golf Club held their fourth and final qualifying round for the 2018 championship, sponsored by Taylor, Nott and Molinari. Thanks to Peter Molinari for heading out for a hit again and he brought out a couple of young-guns with him. It was good to see a large group return after a few weeks of open days and some welcome wet weather which kept the golfers away.
The course was looking a treat thanks to Kinga and Timmy giving it a fresh cut. It was a stroke round with a flag competition at the end for players who hit under 71 nett for the men and 72 for the women. With the play-offs looming, club members were keen to get that final good score in and it showed on the scores as we came in with 6 members heading back to number 1 to use up the rest of their shots. Only Tim Adams 78-11-67 and Ross Ditchburn 76-8-68 had more than 1 stroke left, Ross had 3 and put it a few metres short of the hole but Tim was able to just sneak a bit closer with his fourth and final stroke. Jon Adams, Karl West and Scott Gray were all close behind and hit 70 nett.
For the women, Marnie West had a great round hitting a 102-32-70 to be the only lady to have any strokes left over winning the flag comp. Jodie Ditchburn was hot on her heels hitting 100-28-72 to finish second.
Next week Kukerin Golf Club will be having a stableford competition. Newdegate are also holding a Men’s Open Day on Saturday so if you’re keen get your names in ASAP. Well done to Jon Adams and Barney Smith for winning the Lake Grace Men’s Open Day a few weeks ago, great effort.

It was going to be a tough game for our Ducks this week against Cardinals Force 1, although we went into the game feeling positive and out to get another win. The team had some major changes across the court with a few players away. One of our brilliant defenders, Clare Smith, changed goal ends to take on goal attack for the game with Janina Blake taking on goal defence for the whole game.
The game felt more like a tennis match with lots of unforced errors from both teams for most of the game. The turnovers were keeping us all on our toes thus goal scoring for both sides was hard fought. Our Ducks kept their heads high through the entire game and played as hard as they could but unfortunately Cardinals Force got a run on us in the final quarter.
The final score was Cardinals Force 1 (37) to Dumbleyung (25). Best players for Dumbleyung were Amanda Gilfellon, Roisin Lynch and Jenny West. Well done to the entire team for adapting to the many changes given to them last weekend and for playing so well together!
Our next game is Round 12 Saturday 4th August versus Allstars 2 at 3pm on Court 4. So come along to support our Ducks as it will be a big game against the very inform Allstars 2 team.
