Our Dumbleyung Ducks played Division 2 leaders Olympians 2 in a top of the table clash that Dumbleyung should be proud of. With ten players this week, our Ducks had plenty of court options but Olympians 2 had the advantage, particularly in the goal shooting end with two six foot players (against our shorter defenders).
The game began with Olympians getting a run of goals before Dumbleyung responded. This kicked Dumbleyung into action and at the end of the first quarter, our Ducks were one goal down. The second quarter mirrored the first and our Ducks were pumped for the second half.
Alas it was not to be, with Olympians stepping it up a notch. Olympians read the play well, played a tight zone and converted all of our errors into goals. The final score was Olympians 2 (57) to Dumbleyung (36) with Olympians 2 claiming the minor Premiership for Division 2. Best players included Carly Smith, Hanna Chiswell, Katrina Gray and Pip Gooding.
Our Ducks played a brilliant game and have finished third for the season. Finals begin this Saturday 26th with Dumbleyung to play Allstars 2 at 1.30pm, Court 4 in the First Semi-Final. So come along and support our Ducks in what will be a hotly contested game. Best of luck to our Ducks!
