Dumbleyung Netball Club
The Dumbleyung Ducks played at Katanning Leisure Centre on Saturday May 18 with the Dumbleyung 2 team, taking to the court first at 1.30pm. Playing Allstars 3, the game was fast and quick with some great defence by Helena Kendall, Janina Blake and Petronella Andersson. Though the ducks couldn’t keep up with no score at quarter time. The ducks were able to put some points on the board in the second quarter but unfortunately went down to Allstars 3 with a final score of Dumbleyung 2 (5) to Allstars 3 (41). Best players went to Helena Kendall, Janina Blake and Jenny West.
Dumbleyung 1 team then took to the court at 3pm and played Allstars 1. A strong opposition, Dumbleyung 1 played their own game and did well to make leads and place pressure on the talented Allstars 1 team. Like a duck to water, the team welcomed back Hannah Chiswell who played well in the center court. Unfortunately, Dumbleyung 1 couldn’t keep up and the final score was Dumbleyung 1 (18) to Allstars 1 (61). Best players went to Clare Smith, Roisin Ball and Hannah Chiswell.
As pictured below fellow duck Amanda Gilfellon was there to support both teams over the weekend and though we say farewell, we thank Amanda for her contributions to the club as a Secretary and player and wish her and her family all the best for their new chapter - you will always be a duck in our eyes!
After recent communication a decision by the Association will see Dumbleyung 1 move from A Grade to B Grade with the first B Grade game for Dumbleyung 1 being played this weekend, Saturday May 25 against Olympians 2 at 1.30pm. The Dumbleyung 2 team will also play at 1.30pm against Olympians 3. All are welcome and encouraged to come along and support the ducks!
Away from the Katanning Leisure Centre the ducks have been training hard and enjoying the new netball court at Stubbs Park – thanks again to the Bain Estate Future Fund for assisting the club in making this happen!

On another glorious day for footy the young Cougar brigade travelled to Narrogin to take on Towns Football club. Numbers were good again as 20 took to the field and we also appreciated having a couple of Narrogin boys help us out.
Miells Astbury was the skipper and he won the toss. After careful consideration (and in-depth discussion with a few others) he decided to kick with the breeze.
The first quarter saw the kids play their best footy for the year as they held the talented Narrogin side to only one goal for the quarter. We had a couple of thrust’s forward ourselves but couldn’t manage to get ourselves on the board. Narrogin kicked away in the second putting on five goals but the team fought hard into the breeze.
The second half was played out well by the cougars as some good running and passages of play got the ball inside our forward line a bit more often and we managed a goal in the last quarter. The team are getting better each week and I’m sure a win will be just around the corner.
Mars Bar kids- Kahlen Pitcher & Louis Davidson
Best player- Thomas Hamon
Thanks to Vicky and Ricky.
This weeks game is in Dumbleyung so come on down and scream for the team!

Loud and proud you could hear the Cougars club song from the change rooms on Sunday afternoon as the Cougars had their first win for the season! The Cougars held the lead for the entire game though they really took the lead in the third quarter with a margin of 30 points at three quarter time. Well done to the Cougars with a final score of Kukerin Dumbleyung 15.8 -98 to Narrogin Hawks 10.9-69. Goals by K.Gooding (6), K.Patterson (3), P.Joyce (2), D.Ryan, R.Taylor, S.Pearce and D.Joyce. Best players were D.Joyce, D.Ryan, K.Patterson, R.Smith, P.Joyce and J.Angwin.
Lakeview Golf Club
Ladies winner was Ronnie Ball with 31points but this will improve with her retirement next week from work, more golf and trips she hopes but hubby Graham is very pleased he thinks she is going to help him more!! Runner-up was Margie Ward with 27points, with a mention of the 2 gorilla hits that marks a special hitter on 4 and 17 - going past the tree marker which has been the benchmark for the ladies for 40years, and a super Birdie on number 9. Gross T Bartram.
The men's winner was a runaway victory for Scott Jefferis, it is believed that he did run most of the way around with his 3 partners in crime- Lee, Marc & Stephen -with a late start and a late finish predicted, proved us all wrong – in the Clubhouse at a reasonable time. Scott's 44 points included 5 Birdies and a reference that he certainly was a chip off the old block, Barry. Runner-up was Lee Smith with 38 points on a countback from Garry Bateup and the Gross Stephen Roberts 24points. Birdie hole drawn by Kobie Ward was won by Marc Ball.
Next week is the 1st Stroke for the season sponsored by AFGRI Wagin, includes a BBQ, MM and Putting Comp. Please bring a salad or sweet to share.

We travelled to Kulin for the Gala Day on Saturday. C Grade won 1-0 against Kulin-Kondinin in a well fought out game. Kit Kat Award went to Tyler Argent for an awesome first game and Ashleigh Faulkner received the coach's award for running hard and constant hard work. Great game!
B GRADE
Cool conditions didn't deter the B Grade side from playing an awesome game to come out with our first win of the season. The sun rose from the clouds right over the goal space not once, not twice but 3 times! An excellent game played by the whole team and coach is VERY excited about what the season will bring. Vipers managed to score once and our team came away with a 3-1 victory.
A GRADE
Gala day, last seasons Grand final rematch and fantastic weather. What more could one want?! Goals. More goals are always nice and they make things a lot less stressful.
Kulin played very well in the low scoring affair with the only score for the day was by Tahryn Trevenen, 9 minutes into the second quarter.
Pushing us right to the end, Vipers were hard on attack for the last 2 minutes and came very close to equalising. Our defence stood tall with special mention to Annie Argent (Goalie) and Bec King (Fullback) as we managed to hold onto a fragile 1 nil lead when the final whistle blew.
MENS
Gala day - with a couple of battled body’s down we went into the game knowing we would have to push up. Matty T Damo out as a precautionary measure and Brad still fighting a shoulder problem the boys had a hard fight coming. Kulin as usual came out strong, pushing our defence hard making us earn our possessions. Once we settled into our game our mids and forwards used their speed and skills to break the Kulin defence down. Harry slammed home our only and match winning goal early in the piece with Kulin’s goalie getting a solid workout and making our boys earn their keep. Second half saw Kulin come out hard and push hard. Couple of late short corners in the last 1/4 had the defence wired up. Thankfully we kept them out and managed to run the game out 1-nil victors. For his huge work in the forward line Harry was awarded the coaches award this week. I would like to thank vipers for hosting the day putting on 2 great fields and awesome spread after the game and the sponsors of Roe sports power Narrogin and Snooze for coming out for the day. Next game is Corrigin which will be our last game before men’s country week.
