Dumbleyung vs Allstars 1
28 May 2016

THEY DIDN’T REACH 100!

After a very successful My Designer Wardrobe netball club fundraiser the previous night, eight ducks ventured to the Katanning Leisure Centre to play what was to be a goliath match.  We were also down to seven players with a few ducks away, so Candice Ward donned the netball uniform to give the team extra support and encouragement.

It was a tough but clean match against reigning Premiers, Allstars 1.  They were simply brilliant and showcased their talent across the court by reading the play, strong intercepts and mesmerising passes but our girls gave it their best.  The fifteen goals we achieved were celebrated victoriously throughout the game and our defence played to supreme securing many rebounds.  We learnt at the end of the game that Allstars 1 were aiming to reach 100 goals, however our defence ensured that this did not happen and a credit to the strength of our defence.

The final score was 15 – 95 to Allstars 1.  Our next game is Saturday 11 June at 1pm on Court 4 against the Sapphires.  This weekend we have another bye as the Smarter then Smoking Association Championships take place at Wembley Sports Park from Saturday 4 June to Monday 6 June.   We wish the Katanning Netball Association teams all the best and look forward to hearing the results.

Dumbleyung Mens Hockey Club

The men played Wagin On Saturday May 28 at home, Stubbs Park, Dumbleyung. This was the first home game of the 2016 season and the boys went out with full steam and plenty of subs. Unfortunately they weren't able to come away with a win this week going down to Wagin 3-0. Thanks to the umpires for a job well done and to all the spectators for supporting the team.

Kukerin Lake Grace Hockey Club

It was a great day for hockey this week as we kept dry! We played the KK (Kulin-Kondinin) Vipers at Lake Grace. C-Grade was a 1 all draw, goal by Jack and award to Stella.

B-Grade lost 0-6 with awards to Trish and Rosie. Unfortunately, A-Grade also lost with a final score of 3-4 with goals by Ellie (2) and Tahryn. Awards for A-Grade went to Annie and Tahryn.

Training will be held in Kukerin this week and there will be no hockey this weekend due to the WA Day long weekend.

DUMBLEYUNG -LAKEVIEW GOLF CLUB
A good crowd turned out on Saturday 28 May for the Par event sponsored by Greenline Wagin. Winners of the mens tournament were Paul Ward on a count back from his Dad Howie with a score of +2, Gross winner Stephen Roberts.  Women's winner with a great +1 was Davina Gossage, runner-up on a count back was Margie Ward - 2 and Gross Tamara Bartram.  Novelties were won by S Roberts, T Bartram, J Ward, M Ward, L Smith, E Gossage, G Jose.
It was great to see the Netball girls grace the Club house again  after their game in Katanning.  Next week will be All Occasions - Margie Ward sponsored stableford.

WORKING BEE will be held Wednesday, 1 June at 12.30pm.  We need everyone on deck for a working bee to get the course into top notch for our Ladies Association Championship Foursomes which will be held on the 16th of June.

We need as many people as we can to get the massive job of cleaning up the fallen trees from around the course and manicure some of the greens surrounds.  If you can’t make it on Wednesday, please let Eric know.

Please bring chain saws, mowers, whipper snippers, rakes and whatever else you can think of (No dynamite for the big salmon gum on 6 boys!). A job list is being drawn up and will be left if you can’t make this Wednesday but have a spare hour or two or three to go out and tackle one of the jobs. If a good effort is done this week, the course will be set up for the Men’s open day on the 10th of July.  Catering and workers will be needed for the 16th of June and Davina will soon be sending out a request list.
