Lakeview Golf Club
At Lakeview, Dumbleyung Golf Club on Saturday 19 May 2018, a good contingent played off for the sponsored day by the Dumbleyung General Store, the shop that supplies all our needs. Thank you for the continued sponsorship, it is really appreciated. The Men's winner, continuing his merry way, though it was on a countback this week was Bob Hannah on 36 points. Howie Ward was the runner-up, probably tiring in the last few holes, due to the extreme fast pace of making a dash from Wagin with wife Margie to play together. This didn't stop him from achieving 3 ferrets and one was from 120 metres out. Gross went to Eric Gossage with 24 points, also winning the birdie hole. Eric was really looking forward to having a pie for tea, while the wife's away, the pies go down really well. Good to see George Bartram back on the fairways.
Women's winner with a miraculous score, Eric did have to look twice at before announcing, was Elizabeth Dare with 42 points. This was achieved by Liz by going straight down the middle with her drives rarely missing the fairway, second shots out of sight and near the hole and even when she had to take 3 off the tee on No 5, her hit had the ball 2 metres from the hole, 1 putted and had 4 for 3 points. Runner-up was Margie Ward with 34 points, who was very pleased with her winnings and was going home to make soup for her man. Gross winner was Tamara Bartram whose golf did improve by 1 this week, from 2 weeks ago. Novelties were won by Margie x 2, Eric and Sharlene Powell. The lucky card draw for the Royal Cup was won by Dave Wall, who also won the Dumbleyung Roadhouse mug last week.
Next week is the 2nd qualifying round, sponsored by AFGRI of Wagin. Names in by 12.00.

Kukerin Golf Club
On Saturday afternoon Kukerin Golf Club had their first qualifying round for this year’s championship, sponsored by The Kukerin Hotel. It was another good showing with a few familiar faces having their first hit for the year. The draw was done and with Tiger coincidentally drawing Barry and his cart again, the players took off.
After scores last round that were below average, most players were able to find some form in the stroke round. The scores reflected that when we all got in from a great afternoon of golf. For the men Ross Ditchburn was the star of the day hitting a quality 74 off the stick, he won the gross and the nett with 66. Phil Adams dusted off his sticks and headed out for a hit and knocked up 89-69 to finish in second place. Paul King hit 89-70 to finish third. Debbi Smith came out for her first hit for the year and you wouldn't have thought it as she hit 97-69 to win the ladies. Marnie West was runner up with 107-75 and Jodie Ditchburn was third with 108-80.
Thanks to Bob and the Kukerin Hotel for their great prizes and ongoing sponsorship. Next Saturday, hopefully after a decent bit of rain, KGC hold a stableford sponsored by RSM Bird Cameron.

Dumbleyung Netball Club
This week we welcomed back Elspeth Smith to the court of whom has not missed a beat stepping back into playing Centre and Wing Attack. Unfortunately, we were also two Ducks down with the dreaded flu.
Allstars 1 are a powerhouse team! And in their first game for 2018 scored nearly 100 goals. But our Ducks were determined to put the pressure on and did they do just that! Our centre court worked their magic with Ally Peters, Elspeth Smith, Amanda Gilfellon and Janina Blake keeping their passes short, sharp and to the space while our defence with Clare Watts and Roisin Ball had the additional task of playing against the very tall Kowald sisters. At our goal end, Chloe McDougall fought off a tight Allstars defence to score some magnificent goals with Tegan Hall and Pip Gooding weaving and winding throughout the goal end, to create scoring opportunities.
Our Ducks kept their heads high and worked hard throughout the entire game, which was high scoring and fast paced. Although the final score was not in our favour, our Ducks played an amazing game to beat last year’s game score and our weekly target of 8 goals per quarter. Great work Ducks! The final score was Allstars 1 (76) to Dumbleyung (35). Best players for Dumbleyung included Alison Peters, Chloe McDougall and Elspeth Smith.
Round four, Saturday 26th May see Dumbleyung play Cardinals Force 1 on Court 4 at 1.30pm. May the force be with the Ducks!
