Dumbleyung Bowling Club

The Great Southern Bowling League played their Pairs and Triples championships in Dumbleyung on Tuesday the 4th and Wednesday the 5th of December. With players, supporters and helpers, there were over 30 people in attendance on both days and although conditions were unpleasant on the Tuesday, our sprinkler system and the wind meant it was bearable.

Our Pairs duo of Karen Ward and Audrey Bate-up played like champs on the Tuesday and all hopes were pinned on them winning their last game on Tuesday against Kojonup to come home triumphant. Unfortunately, this was not to be. Bad luck girls.

Winners of the Pairs was Kojonup, Dumbleyung R/U and the Triples was Wagin and R/U Katanning.
Thank you to the men for preparing the green, in particular Stephen Hughes and Garry Bate-up
and the ladies who helped out in the kitchen , Liz Dare, Justine Hughes Tania Kirk and Jean Lee.

A great two days of competitive bowls.

Oh, and did I mention Karen Ward who grew the gladies!

Kukerin Bowling Club

With a bye in pennant fixtures and harvest in full swing, the bowling green was fairly quiet during the weekend, however there were eight who turned up mid Sunday afternoon for a game and two competitive games were played for the rest of the day. We welcomed Gary George and Judy Horton who had a game with us.

Next Saturday, Kukerin are at home to Newdegate for our pennant match. This promises to be a highly competitive game as in the first encounter this season Kukerin prevailed by the narrow of only five shots with each team winning two rinks.

There will be two ladies pennant games played at Kukerin also.  This is an alignment round for the ladies pennants. Kondinin will play Lake Grace and Kulin play Newdegate. This will be the opportunity for anyone interested to see a feast of bowls on the one green.

There will be pennant practise for anyone who is available from 4.30 pm on Friday afternoon.

Congratulations to the five players selected to play in the Inter League bowls carnival at Esperance from 11th to 13th January 2019.   R. Ditchburn, G. Smith, M. King, C. Bahr, and T. Adams.

Good bowling and luck to B. Davidson and Smith when they travel up to Perth this week to play in the W.A. ladies state pairs championship.
