Dumbleyung Bowling Club

Men’s Pennants
Dumbleyung came out firing with a 5-1 win against Wagin, in their first game of pennants this season.

Perhaps it was our new bowler and CEO Peter Crispin, playing second that made the difference. Welcome Peter, great to have you on board!

This year we also have talent in reserve… a healthy feeling for the club!

Teams on the day were,
G.Jose, P.Bedford, B.Hannah, G.Bateup 24-20
S.Hughes, O.Dare, P.Crispin, G.Cronin 27-23
C.Henry, J.Morris, P.Payne, R.Hall 17-20

Around the Club

Saturday October 26th, Ladies and Men’s Championship Fours

G. Jose started playing early with some very successful competition in Kalgoorlie. Went clubbing one night and checked out the sights… disappointing. It’s a museum no. No dollars needed, no happy ending!!

Kitty will be home this week (Thursday), should be able to give us a good Dolly Parton rendition. Won’t be for long, Bali beckons, but this she can fit in between games.

The District Club has been running a successful Corporate Bowls competition. 16 were there last week.

Our Treasurer is starting to get her head around the new Bowlslink program and would like to thank all the members for being so prompt in paying their subs. Welcome to new members – Peter Crispin, Kay Lee, Nev Power and Gwen Lathwell.

Good luck to Murray Hudson and Clem Henry on their upcoming operations and a quick recovery from his fall to Murray Lathwell. We look forward to seeing you around the club again.

The Ladies pennants start this week. Wagin versus Dumbleyung. Go girls, can’t let the men out do us!

Kukerin Bowling Club

Last Sunday saw a good attendance play organised social bowls in very pleasant conditions.  The club welcomed Tom Pearce to the club and hope that he will enjoy his time with us. Captain Ross Ditchburn organised a very competitive afternoons bowls which were enjoyed by all.  At the end of the days play Ross announced winners from points accrued during the afternoon.  In first place was Phil Adams, narrowly from Tim Adams.

Next Saturday 19th, Kukerin travel to Lake Grace to play the opening game of the 2019-20 pennant season.  A big effort will be needed to get our pennant defence under way.    There will be pennant practise from 4.45 pm on Friday for all who can be available.

Next Sunday the club pairs will commence.  Could players please advise the captain if you wish to play in the event.  Players will be advised of starting times next Saturday following the pennant game.

Congratulations and best wishes to Beverley Davidson who has been selected in the West Australian over sixties side to play in the interstate series.  A big effort and we are all proud of your achievements from our small club.
