Dumbleyung Netball Club
Katanning Netball Club, Olympians, are known for their strength and agility on court. Olympians 2 were no different last weekend and our Ducks were up to this challenge!
A fast pace was established right from the first whistle and there was no room for error. Any ball turnovers and unforced errors were taken advantage of and converted to goals. This saw a run of three or more goals scored by each team and a change of leader throughout the whole game.
At the end of the first quarter, Olympians were up by three goals, by the end of the second quarter, Dumbleyung were up by two goals and at the end of the third quarter Dumbleyung were down by seven goals. This set the scene for a thrilling final quarter. Each team fired up with strong passing, great use of space on court and chasing down any loose balls. Dumbleyung won the final quarter but despite their brilliance it was not enough to secure the game win.
The final score: Olympians 2 (60) to Dumbleyung (55). Best players for Dumbleyung included Chloe McDougall, Katrina Gray and Kirra Roberts. Well done Ducks on such a brilliant game!
With the footy playing at the same time, it was great to see so many supporters on the weekend! Thank you to everyone that came along. And congratulations to Katanning netballers Jayde Wolfe and Chloe Why who umpired our game and were awarded their umpiring C-Badge. Well done!
Netball returns Saturday 22 July which will see teams split into their proper divisions for the remainder of the season. Watch this space to see who Dumbleyung will play when the season recommences after the school holiday break!

The game continued on and the defence from the team was strong and impassable.
With 8 minutes to go Dumbleyung managed to push the ball into attack and Courtney Bairstow was able to turn and hit the ball into goals without too much thinking. The game soon ended and Dumbleyung won the day 2-0.
A special mention to Hayden Gossage who went goalie and stopped every ball forced at him. All players positioned well and helped in every way possible on what was a very cold day.
Better players were Courtney Bairstow, Scott Angwin and Shane Hall.
