Dumbleyung Darts Club

The Dumbleyung Darts Club (Allstars) hosted the game against one of the top teams, Wagin Morans on Wednesday night July 4 at the GODI.

With the captain away, Graham stepped into the spot and engineered a 6/5 win. Going into the singles 4/1 down, it was looking grim, but our players performed well to win 5 of the 6 final games. Clayton was unfortunate to play against in form Tom Spurr, with Tom winning that game with a 6 shot 501 and finishing the evening with a 63.54 average and 3 pegs. Each of our players pegged a game, which gave us our win.

Roadhouse Ric played a great game with an average of 62.68 and 5 X 100s, Graham averaged 46.82, Ricky (Block) 45.18, Don (Ducky) 44.33, John Williams (BJ) 39.82 and Clayton 36.7. Thanks to Lyn for doing the book and the GODI for the warm fire and supper. Our next game will be in Wagin against Wagin team Gansters.

Lakeview Golf Club

The day commenced with a thick deadly fog,  which did clear up in time for the golf, a stroke round which saw a good crowd play for our sponsored day, by Margie Ward -  All Occasions Celebrant.   This was Margie's tenth year as a Celebrant and we congratulate her on this awesome achievement!   Margie did offer a 10% discount for any marriages etc. but no one was really ready for that this day, there being only 1 eligible bachelor in our group.

The men's winner Paul Ward with an 88 gross 72 nett blitzing the field winning his Mum’s day. Must have been the great holiday with the family as he was looking extremely relaxed. Paul was also the only one to score a birdie, not only 1 but 3 of them and taking home a novelty.  Runner-up bachelor boy Dave Wall with a 90 gross/74 nett, on a count back from Lee Smith.  Lee probably could have done better if he had just come to golf, instead of traversing to Narrogin and back twice, though he did take out a novelty.  Gross was won by Eric Gossage with 90 off the stick, a novelty and the putting was on a count back from Glenn Ball which Eric won.

Elizabeth Dare is reaching for the stars with yet another win, three in a row with a 111/73 nett. Liz is definitely relishing the pressure to keep up this standard and looking really hot in her pink jacket won a few weeks ago.  Runner-up Tamara Bartram 95/78 and the gross by none other than Margie with 106.  Darryl Gaull was the lucky man (or maybe unlucky) to get to play with the women.  It was an interesting day after being encouraged by the Captain not to go in the bush, but as luck is this didn't apply to the Captain who tended to stray quite a bit.

Lakeview Men's 4BBB
The Lakeview Men's 4BBB 27 hole Stableford was played on Sunday July 8th with generous and awesome sponsorship by Dongolocking Plumbing and Gas, Malcolm Roberts and Farmers Centre John Murray saw a good crowd from far and wide compete for the array of prizes. With a 3 degree start for the Lakeview workers/committee the fog did lift and the day was absolutely gorgeous, couldn't have asked for a better planned competition. The event saw many old faces who have been coming to our course over the past 30 years, once again travelling to our challenging course plus an array of new young guns trying their luck.

Run away winners of the Nett were  Lee Smith and John Davidson with 71 points; Runner-up Nett on a countback was Frank Gaudin and Peter Haitingh 65;  from 3rd Nett Andrew Bairstow and Sam Broad 65 nett; 4th Nett Norm Broom and Ken George 62; 5th Nett James Dare and Karl West 52.

Winners of the Gross with 52 was seasoned traveller to our course Shane Woods teaming up with young Paul Ward after Shane's partner had to pull out due to injury.  Paul commented that it was a real experience playing with Shane (5 handicap) and his incredible and sometimes unusual shots were a pleasure to watch.  Shane also had an Eagle on 14 for 3rd shot novelty.  This was shared with another player Ricky Mott who also Eagled 14.  Well done to both boys!

Runner-up Gross with 48 were seasoned campaigners to Lakeview- Ken Adams and Gerard Hegarty; 3rd Gross with 46 Wayne Pulumbo and Shane Boothey.  The sometimes coveted prize, the NAGA was scored by Reece Taylor and Brock Johnson.  Novelties on every hole were shared fairly evenly.
A big thank you to all who helped the day to run smoothly, the food queens, fire makers, money handlers, course gurus, BBQ chefs, Bar beauties and beaus, card sharps and to the head honchos. It takes all types with special talents to make a team and Lakeview is an awesome team.  Congratulations!

Dumbleyung Junior Hockey

Picture
Four Dumbleyung hockey players represented Albany (LGSHA) last week in Perth at Curtin at the Hockey WA turf in the Year 9/10 competition. Tully Joy, Charlotte Edwards, Sienna and Carie Ball (pictured  left) were all selected to play against teams from all over the state for the championship flag.

Winning the club championship flag is a great feat and the local girls took it all in their stride. Hockeyroo and Albany girl Kathryn Slattery presented the girls with their medallions. Albany has not won this flag for an estimated ten years (since Kathryn Slattery was in the team).

All the girls are now attending school in Albany and play their sport there too. Charlotte Edwards is an amazingly strong fullback who is very difficult to get past. Tully Joy played most of her games at half back. Sienna and Carie Ball both play in the forward line and both scored goals in the championship team.

Kukerin Dumbleyung Football Club

No games were played over the weekend due to the Landmark Country Football Weekend. Footy is back this weekend and the Cougars will play at home (Nenke Park, Kukerin) on Sunday July 15 against Katanning. All are welcome and encouraged to come down and support the team!

Dumbleyung Men's Hockey Club/ Lake Grace Kukerin Hockey Club

A Dumbleyung Men’s Hockey Club bye saw the club travel to Kukerin for a scratch match against neighbours Lake Grace-Kukerin Men’s team. New to the completion this year is the Lake Grace-Kukerin Men’s team and after a fun afternoon and great game, we look forward to reporting on many more scratch matches. No official score was kept, it is reported that Dumbleyung triumphed with a 2-1 win in a close game. Thanks to Floyd and Robbo for umpiring.
