Kukerin Golf Club
On Saturday afternoon Kukerin Golf Club held a stableford competition sponsored by Elders. It was a very still overcast afternoon and a good group of golfers turned up for a hit. With the course starting to look more like a golf course there was plenty of green stuff to hit off, which made for some good scores and a very enjoyable stroll. When the cards were all reviewed Scott Gray was on top for the men with 37 points after a dodgy first 9, came home strong stealing the win from Barney Smith who had 36 points. Jenny Joyce and Debbie Smith were battling it out for the women. In the end they came in with 27 points each, Debbie Smith won the countback. Thanks to Elders for their ongoing sponsorship and Justin Wright for representing Elders and coming out for a hit.
Saturday the 16th of June KGC had another stableford competition sponsored by Wagin Earthmoving. After a good round on a sunny afternoon the 15 golfers all got in, in good time. Tim Adams stole the show chipping in from thirty metres out on hole 3 to finish with 40 points and win the day edging out Karl West who got 36 points. For the ladies Jenny Joyce conquered the course coming in with 39 points with Debbie Smith runner up finishing with 33 points. Thanks to Wagin Earthmoving for sponsoring and the Hegartys for coming out for a hit.
Next week is the third qualifying round sponsored by Kukerin General Store. It will be held on Sunday the 1st with footy on Saturday, come down for a hit.

Olympians 1 are the dark horse team of our Division 1/2 competition and the team to watch as we head toward the new round of competition after the school holidays. This team had speed, agility, power and could read the play very well and while our Ducks gave it their all, they were just far too good on the day.
This is a great reflection of the level of competition within our Association and something our Club can be proud of, having the opportunity to be challenged by teams like Olympians 1 and continue our own development.
The final score was Olympians 1 (80) to Dumbleyung (28). Best players for Dumbleyung, Roisin Ball and Jenny West. Thank you to Olympians for fulfilling our scoring duty on the weekend and a huge thank you to Brian and Eileen Lynch (Ro’s parents), for coming all the way from England to watch our game! (well, maybe to see their beautiful family).
Our next game is Round 9 Saturday 30th June versus Allstars 2 at the Katanning Leisure Centre, Court 4 at 3.00pm. This is our last game as the combined division before we split into our final division for the season after the school holidays. It will be a great game and the outcome may be determined by the number of supporters on the sidelines as the Allstars Club have a solid supporter base - so come along and support our Ducks to help us soar!

Dumbleyung Lakeview Golf Club
Ladies winner yet again and improving every week, the consistent Elizabeth Dare with 36 points, though her pink wood just didn't want to behave this week straying into the bush, also her faithful blue stick tended to be quite erratic as well. Even with all these behavioural dramas Liz still managed to score 18 points on each 9. Runner-up was the hot to trot, holidaying Kununurra Mum, Margie Ward with 35points. Margie was extremely pleased to receive her prize, 1st edition exclusive mug, but what really excited her was winning the Birdie Hole. This is only the second time any lady has got a birdie and actually won the money and the elation can be seen in the photo. Gross Tamara Bartram 15.
It was great to see newcomer Glenn Ball making his debut out at Lakeview, having not played golf for over 30 years. When asked how his golf was going? - "Football looks good." Trust me Glenn, always room for improvement in golf and the challenge to beat your last 18 holes keeps you coming back.
The men's winner, making his comeback a winning one, was young Wade Cook with a great score of 38 points and he also took out 2 novelties. You are already looking slimmer and fitter Wade. Runner-up was another comeback kid, Marc Ball with his new upgraded leg, with 35 points and football is off his list of sports. The Gross was won by none other than the holidaying Kununurra Dad, Howie Ward with 17. When asked “How did the fishing go? Howie pulled out his phone and showed us an absolutely gigantic fish which he was holding!!!!! Fish tales can sometimes be very fishy. The other novelties were won by Jamie Dare, the 1st hit of the day for him and just about his best shot all day and Lee Smith playing only 9 holes but still taking off with a prize.
Next Saturday will be a stableford sponsored by Galts of Wagin.
